How many iPhone's have you gone through?

Asked by cornman (740points) March 14th, 2008 from iPhone

I am personally on my third iPhone. The first two were defective but Apple just handed me new ones each time. What number are you on?

This is my second. The antenna crapper out on the first one and Apple replaced it at the store, no questions asked.

I am on my first one and hopefully my last!!! I have heard horror stories about ppl dropping and breaking their phone but I keep mine close to me at all times!

Personally, I’m still on nĂºmero uno. My roomate though, has already gone through one (which was defective as well) and not to long ago dropped his new one. Now the vibrate feature doesnt work. If he gets a new one now though, he’s gotta pay the replacement fee.

I’m on my third. I bricked the first one. I sold the second one on ebay because I wanted a 16gb.

What do you believe I could sell my 8gig. IPhone for?

babiturtle36's avatar

My boyfriend and I are both on our second iPhone. His would freeze about 15 times a day and my speaker blew and I couldn’t hear anyone I tried to call or would call me. Apple support at the store was horrible, he blamed at&t service for me not being able to hear. I had to call apple from home to solve the problem.

I just got my iPhone a week ago, and I hope I don’t ever have to get another one.

still on my first thank god. But that 3g network thing looks very sweet.

I need to get a second one. My speaker blew as well and the vibrate doesn’t always work. Hopefully, they won’t charge me for a new iPhone.

Geez, I can’t believe this list! Had I known, I may not have bought one!!!

Still using my first one. It’s from week 29 so I’ve been fairly lucky.

3rd

1st-dropped broke. $100 replacement fee
2nd-software update fucked it up. Apple replaced it for free. No hassle.
3rd- had since 2 weeks before Christmas 2007. Okay for now.

this is my second. The first had dead/stuck pixels in the display, and Apple replaced it on the spot when I brought it in-their customer service is awesome…at least for the iPhone when it was in the early stages of the initial release.

First. Got it in november for my birthday.

lillady604332000's avatar

I got mine on November for my birthday too delirium… Ain’t that something… Still on my first phone… I keep it in sight at all times…

Spargett's avatar

What’s the deal with the “replacement fee”? How do you get that as opposed to having to pay full price?

jenlk1207's avatar

on my first still and hope to keep it that way. Got it in Dec for my birthday

2nd. The first one the touch wouldn’t work on the top middle portion of the screen. But this new one works great and apple replaced it no problem. Every now and then it seems like my phone will freak out at the unlock screen but its rare and nothing serious so I don’t mind. I guess its expected. Its alot of power packed in a small device.

My son got his 4GB on the release date, I got my 8GB less than a week later, and we both still have the originals.

squirbel's avatar

Still on my first, 4g, got it June 29 2007.

I’ll upgrade to 16g 3g when it comes out, even if it is after the app store in June.

Maverick's avatar

First. I know at least 10 people with iPhones and none of them have replaced theirs.

squirbel's avatar

Same, 6 of my friends have them (the rest have crackberries or some obsolete candybar phone) and no one has had to replace theirs. The number of replacements here is wild; what is this “replacement fee” you guys are talking about?

sndfreQ's avatar

I believe the fee only applies after the warranty period expires, but I’d have to double check that.

jiboo420_'s avatar

no I had to pay the damn fee cause I practically shattered my first iPhone. It was only $100 though. Remember, the warranty doesn’t cover physical damage to the phone. So there for you have to pay the price if you fuck up. I also have the apple care plan. If you don’t have this I suggest you get it.

sndfreQ's avatar

thanks jiboo for the clarification

Cardinal's avatar

None and expect it to stay at that number for while.

glial's avatar

1 since October; no problems.

jettaray87's avatar

1 since last October… but I am no longer using that one, It would no longer hold a charge and my warranty had just expired. So I used my upgrade for a Blackberry curve. I love it! I am a die hard apple fan, but I am going to wait til the next release before getting another one. I think apple has a great device but some tweeking left to do before getting it just right. I think they are looking at all the competition that is out there now, blackberry storm, samsung insight, etc and going to make it EVEN BETTER! I rushed the first time, and paid the price, now I think I will be patient and wait.

hearkat's avatar

Update: I had to replace mine in September, because the volume control would stick. The replacement’s speaker sounds crappy, though, so I’m considering replacing it.

My son replaced his 4GB a month or two prior because his software was not running properly.

I’m glad we purchased the AppleCare with the rebates we got after the price went down.

I’m on my third. First one had a bad GPS and micro cracks. Second ate battery.
