Why is the Lost finale tonight?
…as opposed to it’s normal Tuesday time

So everyone can be home to watch it.
American Idol shows it’s first part of the final episodes on Tuesday.
They didn’t want the competition of another highly-watched show.
From reading related posts, I don’t think it matters WHEN it’s on…Lost followers will be there.
I think it was also because it was a two and a half hour finale – nearly five hours total with all the build up. I think they showed it on Sunday to keep from dislodging an entire night’s worth of programming. As far as I know, nothing really big or important runs Sunday night – nothing that anybody would find to be the end of the world if it didn’t run one week.
You could also argue that NBC knew LOST fans couldn’t wait until Tuesday, and wanted their finale now now now now NOW. :D
