I accidentally put a pair of "dry-clean only" pants in my washer. Is this a problem?

Did a laundry with hot water. Noticed that my pants were 100% wool, and dry-clean only. Right now I have them hanging to dry.
Did I ruin them permanently / what will be wrong with them / should I take any preventative measures now to make sure they don’t get hurt any more than they already are?

They will be shrunk, and oddly shaped.
Sorry.
They may not have shrunk… or shrunk much… since you didn’t put’em in the dryer. I don’t know of anything you can do at this point, sorry. Cross your fingers and try them on when they are dry, I guess. Wool, in my experience, tends to shrink in length more than width.
They aren’t going to be the same afterwards.
Probably a problem. Possibly not. If they no longer fit, try washing them again in cold water Woolite (or the generic thereof), then lay on a counter, reshape, and let dry. It depends on the fabric of which they are made. If they are wool, you can go ahead and give them to your favorite cabbage patch.
Do sheep shrink every time they walk in the rain?
Only when the rain is very hot.
How do they look? If they look good, don’t worry about it. If they look bad, throw them away.
@Gail
I guess I’m in need of some relief after all the Lost stupidity of tonight, but that hit my funnybone just right.
Yeah that hot rain does it every time !
Still chuckling…
:D
I put a pair of dry-clean only pants in the wash once. But I hung them to dry and they were fine. You should be okay, just don’t do it again.
They turned out to be fine: I guess I got lucky!
