Civic. More economical than a Mazda3 and has a rep for reliability.

According to Consumer Reports Honda Civic is the best route to to. I personally have never gone wrong with the Hondas I have owned.

DON’T LISTEN TO THESE PEOPLE! My Civic was a piece of crap that was incredibly unsafe—traction and handling was so bad I had to make a quick swerve and COMPLETELY lost control of it on a busy highway. I should have died. I finally got rid of it when someone ran a red light and hit me going maybe 25mph and the car was TOTALLED, no joke.

I have a Mazda3 now and it handles like a BMW. I sprung for side airbags and ABS, so not only is it the most incredibly fun car I’ve ever driven, it’s safe too! :)

@nikipedia: You’ve obviously never driven a BMW if you think your Mazda3 handles like one. Yes, I have driven numerous examples of both.

@blunckhouse: Well, I guess they gave me a magic one, then.

What year and model was your civic?

@nikipedia My Civic Si handles like a dream (though I’ve never driven a Mazda3 or any BMWs). I have had no problems with it at all.
