General Question

What kind of chord progression is this considered and why does it feel like its not "done"?

Asked by Steve_A (5130points) May 27th, 2010

It goes

F7 >Bb7 > F7 > Cm7 > F7b9 >Bb7 > Bdim7 > F7 > D7b9 > Gm7 > C7b9 > F7 > D7b9 > G7 >C7b9

What kind of progression is this?
and why does it feel at the end it is not done? And certain chords feel like they are making a bigger jump or going into another pattern?

Usually I find most end on the First chord but on this one it doesn’t and I find F7 does not feel right?

At just a cursory glance, the progression ends on the “5” of the key, and not the tonic, which is the F7.

And I’m not at a place where I could play/hear those chords right now, but for more info on what makes a progression work, and all kinds of other music theory gems, go to wholenote.com

above answer sounds about right. Try adding an F at the end. Does that sound better?

I think it could be my ears probably I usually don’t play these types of chords.
