Something you were there to see in person or watched on tv.An individual performance maybe a world record.Something that stands out for you.I’m dipping a toe in general so keep it real folks.

Seeing my very non-athletic son hit a double to win a Little League game for his team when he was about 11. That was the most exciting sports moment I ever experienced.
I was at a San Jose Sharks game (my first and so far my only) and we were behind two goals with literally only two minutes or so left on the clock. One of the players managed to score those two goals within that time frame which is pretty damn unheard of in hockey. That tied us and we went into overtime and ended up winning. That was pretty amazing. :)
@janbb Well can’t get more real than that Nothing beats seeing your kids kick ass.Puts all the so called super stars of sports firmly in the shade for me.
@Vunessuh I love the high’s & low’s that sports bring.Amazing stuff, I get goosebumps on my goosebumps sometimes.Not long now before the World Cup, woooooooooo hoooooooo….almost fell of my chair with boyish excitement.Never mind me, just a big kid ;¬}
Don Larsen’s World Series No-hitter, which I didn’t see but used to claim I had seen. I did hear it on the radio, though.
Superbowl XLIII, James Harrison’s interception and 100 yard return run/touchdown! I screamed and cheered myself hoarse. Go STEELERS!
Oh! The Saints! Hell, it just happened!
Being in Yankee Stadium the day Jeter tied the record for all time Yankee hits.
The Saints were pretty cool, but that Little League game was the best.
The Play (I was there Go Bears!)
Doug Flutie’s pass in the Bostom College/Miami game (Saw on TV)
Mark McGuire beating Sammy Sosa out for the regular season home run record (TV)
Barry Bonds beating Mark McGuire’s record (I was there)
Willie Mays playing his last season for the Mets (saw him play at a game against the Padres)
Scott Hatterberg’s 9th inning walk-off home run against the Kansas City to cap a multiple run comeback to put the A’s over the top in their 20th consecutive win (listened on the radio)
Dallas Braden’s perfect game (TV)
California Golden Bears win against Duke with Jason Kidd as a freshman to propel them to the Sweet 16 (TV)
Floyd Landis’ now discredited stunning come-from-behind ride to win the mountain stage and ultimately the Tour (TV)
Manchester United’s epic comeback against Bayern Munich in the 1999 Champions League Final. Here is a video recap. If you watched and didn’t feel bad for Sammy Kuffour, you have no heart.
@IchtheosaurusRex Before I clicked your link, I thought it was going to be Janet’s breast!
@dpworkin Hearing it on the radio counts. It’s baseball, after all.
Watching Mike Weir win the Masters in 2003 and watching a few of Mickelson’s shots. Also I have to admit the second year Tiger won, there were some super shots!
@Rarebear Landis is now pointing the finger of suspicion at Armstrong.Hmmm interesting.
@IchtheosaurusRex I still rate the rumble in the jungle higher, but yeah good choice.
@ucme I know. But Landis has already proven his lack of trustworthiness. Until there’s solid evidence (like there was against Landis) to me it’s just allegations spewing from the mouth of a pathological liar.
When Lennox Lewis beat Iron Mike Tyson.
A day or two after Brett Favre’s dad died, he came out against Oakland on a Monday night game and threw 5 TDs.
Also, Eli Manning under tremendous pressure avoiding the tackle to make a barely caught pass that set up the Superbowl win against the hated Patriots, who would otherwise have usurped the 1972 Dolphins as the only team in NFL history to have an undefeated season.
Also Michael Jordan’s game winning 3-pointer against the Jazz in 1998 for the NBA Finals win. I think that was his last shot as a Bull too.
Plus Derek Fisher and Robert Horry have made some amazing last minute shots to tie or win in playoff games throughout their careers.
State track meet. Second place, relay race.
@ChazMaz Awww. Congratulations! I wish I’d been there. My son runs track, so I’m more interested than I used to be. Can I have your autograph?
Mary Lou competing with her broken foot/ankle in the Olympics. It made a huge impression on little me. Sitting on the shag carpeting, drinking a yoohoo and watching what it means to persevere.
2009 play-off series between the Boston Celtics and the Chicago Bulls. ... Oh my goodness!!!
The Bears winning the Superbowl was the best ever and the many Championships the Bulls won under Jordan almost got old but were great and the Black Hawks winning the Stanley Cup this year is most excellent!!
@faye Mike Weir, absolutely Pee Wee’s long lost twin. Did well to win in the land of the big hitters though. Finesse triumphed over power, always a good thing.
- Lance Armstrong winning 7 consecutive Tour de France titles.
– Michael Phelps winning 8 gold medals at the Beijing Olympics.
– Tiger Wood’s phenomenal golfing achievements to date.
Soccer World Cup in 2006. In Germany also known as “a summer’s fairy tale”.
I was 10 years old when the Munich Massacre during the 1972 Olympics happened. Only later did I realize the magnitude of this horrible event.
