Was a Tiffany and Co. "1837" money clip, made in the year 1837, or is the number only marketing?

I’m looking at money clips on ebay. It appears that the Tiffany & Co. 1837 is a good clip. What does the 1837 mean?

1837 is the collection. There is a whole line of 1837 jewelry.
