What are they going to do with the oil recovered from the leaking pipe? What should they do?

Asked by hannahsugs (3243points) June 6th, 2010

BP is now recovering about 10,000 barrels of oil a day from the cap they placed on the leaking pipe. They’re pumping this oil to a ship on the surface. What are they going to do with this oil? Is it good enough quality to treat like normal crude oil? Will they refine it and sell it like normal? Dispose of it somehow? Should it (morally) be sold? If they sell it, should they put aside those funds for some special purpose?

I think they should put it all in a huge vat, heat it to boiling, and place all the BP execs and anybody else who had a hand in this mess in it.

I’m sure if there is a way to turn this oil to profit, they will find it.

Whatever BP (British Patroleum) decide to do with this fiasco, I hope their first concern will be to clean up U.S. waters.

“BP is now recovering about 10,000 barrels of oil a day ” Yeah and that’s just from the ducks, just wait till they start squeegeeing it off the Pelicans!!

BP could have stopped the flow earlier, except they dont want to lose the oil.
So clean up is their second concern, if not lower.
Lose of life, third.

I think it should be used to torch BP HQ.

Looks like this is one answer – they’re landfilling it as it washes up.
