Pay with check online?

Well, to put it simply, I’m supposed to buy a certain amount of music supplies for my school’s music club, but the money I have is in the form of a check, addressed to the vendor I plan on buying for.
The only catch is, it’s an online site, and I don’t see much about paying with a check on the site, so I’m a bit confused.
Perhaps I’m being completely obtuse, but does anyone have any suggestions about what to do here?

Contact the online store and ask them if they would be able to accept it. There should be some kind of “contact us” tab somewhere on the site.
Find this organization’s contact information and talk to them. Give them a list of what you want to buy and then print off a summary and mail the cheque to them with your delivery information.
Call the vendor and see if you can mail the check. Don’t pay with the check online without permission of the school. It’s always best to use credit cards for online purchases. The school could cut another check made out to you which you could deposit and then pay online with your credit card. The school may have a credit card for purchases such as this. So, the answer to your question is no, don’t pay with an online check.
Some businesses and utilities will allow you to pay online with a check if you have a previous relationship with them but most online business will not. However, you can set up a Paypal account linked to your checking account and a lot of online businesses will let you pay with Paypal.
@lillycoyote That’s what I was hoping to do, but the check is out in their name, so I don’t think that’s feasible.
I’ll go ahead and send them an email and see how stingy they are about things like this. I suppose it’s definitely worth a try, but I may just see how difficult it is to get a different check out.
Thanks, all.
@dverhey Sorry, I didn’t realize that. You may have to get someone to set up the account so that you can use a debit card. That can usually be used to purchase things online as is or tied to a Paypal account. Who controls the checking account? What you do apply for Paypal on the checking account and then they make a deposit in the account of something like 2 to 12 cents, or something like that and then when they ask you to confirm the account you just have to tell them how much the deposit was. If they deposited 7 cents in the account you confirm that you have access to the account by telling them “Yes, you deposited exactly 7 cents” and then you’re good to go. If you have the authority to write checks on the account for your school music club you or someone should be able to authorize you to set up a Paypal account or get a debit card. Either one is useful for buying online.
@lillycoyote Eh, I sent them an email, and it looks like in their FAQ that they allow paying by check, so it looks like I’ll just be able to do that. It’ll be a little more complicated, but it’ll work.
@dverhey Well, good. All’s well that ends well.:)
