What is a guilty pleasure that you simply can't or won't resist?

Something that you absolutely positively gotta have maybe despite your better instincts. This has almost certainly been asked before but i’m tired & I wanna go to bed. That’s my excuse & i’m sticking with it.

I love Cosmo. My god do I love Cosmo. I have wasted a lot of money on Cosmo. It is a waste of money and rots my brain from the inside out but I LOVE IT!!!

A large bowl of natural vanilla bean ice cream, topped with just the right amount of lightly salted peanuts. I will never say no to it, even though I should.

Wine and fancy food. My favorite thing after a long day is to drink two or three glasses of wine with some prosciutto, pate, or cheese and French bread. I do that a few times during the work week, but on weekends, my boyfriend and I get together and we go all out. He cooks up some amazing meal like rib-eye or whole red snapper, and we drink at least two bottles of wine between the both of us.

Brownies. Sometimes you just need to eat a batch couple of brownies.

And erotic fiction. Ssh, don’t tell anyone. ^_^

Making my MIL really strong drinks! She then starts making such a scene that her husband gets embarrassed and usually leaves early!

@Seek_Kolinahr: I read that as “erotic fission.” I’m sure that could be sexy…

A hot fudge brownie sundae. Nom nom nom. Thinking of one now.

There’s a drive thru taco stand that sells “taquitos” or rolled up tacos and I will tear through about three of those loaded with melted cheese, guacamole and sour creme on top.

Watching the Harry Potter movies and wishing sooooooooooooo much that I could have detention with a certain Potions Master :-) oh and also huge amounts of chocolate when I’m feeling down,

I’m not a Harry Potter fan, but Snape is dead sexy. It’s mostly Alan Rickman’s voice that does it. ::nods::

@Seek_Kolinahr have sent you a link via PM to lots of Alan ear candy :-)
hugs xx

There are very few people I’d enjoy simply listening to for extended periods of time. Patrick Stewart, Sean Connery, Alan Rickman, and Johnny Cash are the highest on the list.

@Seek_Kolinahr agreed to all, I would add Stephen Fry, Hugh Laurie, Kenneth Branagh and Edward Woodward, the latter now sadly gathered as Mr Fry would say.

Seek's avatar

Ah yes, but only Hugh Laurie’s real voice. The House accent is nice and all, but that one definitely has its limits. Kenneth Branagh is a good choice!

bunnygrl's avatar

OMG someone else who is aware that his career did not start with, nor is he actually House!! <throws mountains of hugs> and I do love Ken. Hubby actually jokes that when he married me I already had a stable of boy toys :-) I’m a loyal little thing and adore them all still. Among them were Misters Fry and Laurie, Rickman, Branagh, DeForrest Kelley, John Thaw and Jeremy Brett, alas the former three now also sadly gathered.

^_^ I saw a movie with him in it… what was it called… Someone‘s Friends. Peter’s Friends? Something like that. It wasn’t even a comedy, but it was gloriously hilarious and so very sad all at the same time. I’m dying to get my hands on the comedy series he did for UK television (A bit of Fry and Laurie, wasn’t it?), but sadly such things are hard to come by in the US – unless I get a new computer and do it illegally.

I remember well, sniffling (and occassionally chuckling) my way through Peters friends in the (near enough empty) cinema with hubby, my cousin who’d come with us to see it had gotten bored and left to play the video games outside in the foyer! tsk shameful. I do love that silly little movie, and it has Emma (Thompson) in it too :-)

Which series? there were a few. The early days saw “Alfresco” and “Blackadder” of course, “A Bit of Fry and Laurie” as well as “Jeeves and Wooster” most of them are on region 1 by now I think. He’s become so popular “across the pond” which is nice but we miss him here lol.

edit: we must have been editing at the same time lol. “A Bit of Fry and Laurie” had 4 series (or seasons) and is on region 1 honey. You can find them here

@bunnygrl – I have them all! Hahahahaha! And Happy Families, too, but that’s more a showcase for Jennifer Saunders and Ben Elton, I reckon. On one of the the Fry & Laurie DVDs, I forget which series, there’s clips from the Footlights show produced for the BBC while both Fry & Laurie were still at Cambridge, and includes Emma Thompson.

Which leads to my other guilty pleasure, sitting around watching British comedy all day.

bunnygrl's avatar

@aprilsimnel yep, its on the series one dvd :-) how adorable is darling Mr Fry in happy families? Have you seen Dinnerladies with Victoria Wood? or The Thin Blue Line with Rowan Atkinson? both only ran to 2 series each but are wee treasures none the less.
Have a day off work today so I’ve been watching one of the series 1 stories from Wallander, the UK version with Mr Branagh that is (although I’ve been loving the Swedish version on bbc4 too). Talk about a guilty pleasure lol, just how jaw droppingly gorgeous is Ken Branagh in that? <drooooooools>
