Is Braun Series 7 Worth It?

Asked by killertofu (115points) June 8th, 2010 from iPhone

I have thick curly hair. If I shave with a razor I get ingrown hairs (kinda bad at times).

I use a Panasonic electric shaver (dual non-rotary foil) and sometimes I’ll have ingrown hairs. Normally with that electric shaver, it doesn’t cut hairs properly (it seems to tug and miss hairs a lot).

My friends and reviews recommend the Braun Series 7. Is it worth it? My dad claims the “unique” foil system (since it looks like snow flakes instead of just holes) doesn’t do a good job, but every electric shaver I’ve used seems to fail.

I don’t know about electric shavers, but have ingrown hair treatment/prevention tips if you want them.

ok. This is more difficult with electrics but shaving with the grain is always the best way to prevent the ingrown hairs. Exfoliating your skin helps keep the follicles clear so that dead skin doesn’t clog them. This can be done with either exfoliating products or with the rough side of an axe loofa. Moisturizing also helps to keep skin smooth and easy to shave.

For ingrown hairs that are already present , wet a washcloth/small towel with hot water and hold it against the hair until it starts to peek out of the swollen area (if this takes more than ten minutes it might actually be a zit). After that, or if the hair is already partially visible, you’ll want to pull it out(but not actually remove it) with a needle or tweezers so it can grow normally. You don’t want to re-shave it right away because it’ll most likely cause the same problem.

Hope this helps
