Am I losing my mind, or does my XBox 360 not have an HDMI port?

Asked by mrrich724 (8550points) June 9th, 2010

I just got my new Samsung, 120hz full 1080p LED!!!

So naturally, I want to hook up my XBox 360 via HDMI so I can project it with the highest resolution possible. I looked in the back, and there is only the standard A/V slot for the component cables that come with the system.

Does anyone know if there is a difference between the older 360 (3–4 years old) and the newer ones regarding this?

I don’t think I’m going nuts, but for the life of me I can’t locate an HDMI slot, but I’m having a hard time accepting the fact that my 360 doesn’t have one . . .

According to this, it is indeed only on newer (after 2007) premium 360s. Sorry :-/

yeah you will not be able to reach full 1080p but be able to use composite cables to get 720p/1080i

And, you won’t notice the difference.

You can use VGA cables on most HD TVs to get quality up to 1360×768 resolution. Not sure how this compares with 1080p but when I used my old 360 (sans HDMI) on an HD TV with the VGA connector it looked great.

Also it’s worth noting that there are pricey HDMI converters for older 360’s which claim to up the resolution. Don’t get it though, they just up-res the low-res image, in other words it’s not any better.
