Just saw this Q&A and thought it was quite hilarious. Obviously the OP liked the answer but we can’t see it. Was someone too quick off the mod?

Mods are kind of like the Pope. Infallible. If the mod says it was unhelpful, who gives a shit what the OP thinks?
And we all know how infallible the Pope is.
That’s hilarious indeed XD
In my case once, it was because my response didn’t fit in with what the OP thought the OP already knew. Absurd is the word.
Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
Mods and the one/s who flag the answer.
My Jeruba knows Latin too. Just saying. * sigh *
@dpworkin: I’ll be in your neck of the woods on Sat. June 19. Columbia-Greene Humane Society cuts pets’ nails for a $10 donation (cats) and $20 (dogs). I’ll be there around 10:45 with a very carsick Milo, if you care to join us for some water and a cat treat.
I speak French and k’tsat ivrit and pig-Latin. Just sayin’, guys.
Don’t be jealous, sexy Bubby. Just saying.
Ivrit? Really? Damn, that’s what i get for having had secular parents. Not a word of Loshen Kodesh.
Told you I went to a Zionist camp. They announced all the mealtimes in Hebrew!
Who knew summer Fridays at work could be so much fun?
@zenele I would never try to come between you and the fair Jeruba.
He’s a yiddishe poppa.
What question are we in now?
If it’s friday, we must be in the one about quick-trigger moderation.
I’m beginning to see why chatrooms could be fun.
איך נאָך פילן שיין שלעכט וועגן די גאנצע ”טהעבי” פֿאָדעם.
Best I could for “thread” lol פאדעם
Oy vey – I need better glasses.
It’s Yiddish, dear. I’ll Ivrit it for you:
אני עדיין מרגיש רע בקשר לסיפור שהיה עם דה ביי The By
I need a transliteration.
@dpworkin Here goes (I’ll do my best):
Ich noch filn shoyn shlecht vegn di gantse “Theby” fodem (as in “thread”).
Got most of the Yiddish; what is “filn” and “vegn’?
“fodem” not bad. My grandfather was in lady’s buttons.
My Zayde was in ladie’s underwear; what would johnpennington think!
Come on, Dawgie. Spit it out.
Hey all! Okay- the quip that was removed was flagged as unhelpful by another member. I saw the flag.
On looking at the quip I did not get how it could possibly be helpful and removed it.
So now I have restored it. Please go look and please explain (in this question not that one) what it meant. I am totally curious now! :)
Also- in the future if you see a possibly helpful quip removed please flag the question and bring it to our attention. We all have different ranges of experience and thus do err.
Hah! I’m so glad it was you! Doap.
That was what it was? Beats the shit out of me.
See @janbb? I totally do not get it but it has to mean something because of the responding quips by the asker.
@dpworkin ‘splain it!
And wasn’t it the OP who flagged it? I’m totally baffled on the OP’s first response. And their second one.
Freaks me out – but then anything is possible here. I’ve seen people have whole conversations with themselves.
I just went and looked. I would have modded it. I think the OP just happens to have a sense of humor.
Let me look… Nope – another user flagged it.
I think I figured it out: someone wrote an answer that was possibly snarky and helpful, thought better of it after the OP replied, edited their answer to its current state which was then flagged and removed. The OP is confused having not seen the edit and now possibly thinks we changed it? Maybe?
@timtrueman Makes sense… only rpmpseudonym or the asking party would know for sure. I never saw anything except its present state.
Now I am a little disappointed. I expected to be enlightened on some deep symbolism of self removal twice that reflected on the literary works on a new level.
I have asked dayyyuuum in PM to explain – but he may be in the middle of writing Shakespeare. Hopefully he’ll get back to me – I await with bated breath – tis a mystery.
Wait. How do you say rpmpseudonym in Yiddish?
I thought that was the Yiddish for Rumplestiltskin..
@zenele I owe you a felafel and I really feel awful about it.
;-)
My favourite Haute Cuisine.
too bad we’re maxed out on each other; I’ve gotten most of my lurve from you today, I think.
I think we maxed out about 2 years ago Edit: I just realized because this is a new nickname I can give lurve lol.
I think @timtrueman probably has the correct analysis; hopefully the OP will enlighten us at some point. Ot perhaps @dpworkin is right and the OP has a well-honed sense of sarcasm, in whihc case he’ll fit right in. Didn’t mean to get any Dawgie hackles up, @Dog – but it did strike me as pretty odd. C’mon over here, I know just where you like your belly scratched.
I feel really dumb but what does OP mean? I gather it is the asker.
surely the contested answer can’t be
removed by self can it?? There is no reference to an apothecary in the answer.
I have marvelously enjoyed this thread even it I came late
@Dog That whole thing @timtrueman said made sense? Really? It confused me!
edited to add: Ah, I went back to look at original question and now understand what @timtrueman was saying.
@chyna maybe you didn’t have your listening ears on.
Shut up and listen while I’m talking to you.
are your hands in your pocket? take them out.
Look how you’re dressed. Where did you think you were coming today?
a tea party? when we come to court we bring evidence.
All users can help decide which quips are useful and which aren’t. Any user can flag a questionable quip, and the mods review it to see if they agree. In my opinion, just because a quip makes me laugh does not mean it is helpful in answering a question.
Sneaking in here for a Jew/Gentile group hug.
@jjmah For sure, always my dear little shiksa.
I’m making scrambled eggs and bacon now for breakfast. And it’s Shabbos. Just saying.
I love freshly squeezed jews.
Well, this was interesting. :)
“Who determines the helpfulness of a response?”
Or what?
GA count.
Yea, I did. Waned to give a more “broader” opinion. ;-)
It’s either that or cut the grass.
@ChazMaz Cut the grass before it gets too hot.
Yes dear. Going to do it now. ;-)
And don’t forget to do the edging.
Crap! Now I have to go back out. ;-)
Well, for something that made no sense whatsoever. this was sure fun (a day later)
:D
Yesterday was a fun day on Fluther for the most part. Like days of old.
Well there have been darn few of those lately, haven’t there ?
Next time I’ll have to reschedule my Spring cleaning.
@Buttonstc Yeah, you missed a great afternoon on Fluther just to get a clean house! Where are your priorities?
Obviously not in the right place. And the job isn’t even done yet.
I cleaned for a few moments today. Now it’s World Cup time.
Which question si this again?
I love it when threads descend into total chaos. Bring back Old Fluther!
@janbb Right on!!! HOORAH!!!
O HAPPY FLUTHERDAY TO YOU ALL!
