Finally, the fluther bar-b-que is on. What has to be on the grill (or not) and what snacks and drinks must be provided for your dining pleasure?

Asked by zenele (8260points) June 11th, 2010

Sorry if you thought there would actually be one – hey, maybe one day.

So what are some of your favourite foods and drinks?

I rather prefer the Lark’s tongue.

zenele's avatar

My Bubby used to make tongue.

janbb's avatar

I’ll bring the leftover guacamole, chips and BS from @jjmah’s beach party last week.

@dpworkin promised to make me some gribbenes.

(My Mom used to make tongue – not from larks; boy, was that gross looking.)

janbb's avatar

(hey – I’m a Bubby now; do I have to make tongue? What should a “sexy bubby” do?)

DominicX's avatar

Lots and lots of melon. :) I just bought a watermelon, honeydew, and cantaloupe yesterday…

jonsblond's avatar

I’ll be getting the bonfire started for s’mores, just please save me some of the chicken wings. Anyone want a Red Stripe?

janbb's avatar

I’m at work but hey – toss me a beer!

janbb's avatar

Toda raba, chaver.

Your_Majesty's avatar

Fresh veggies and fruits. Organic!

zenele's avatar

It was an Efes Pilsen – a delicious Turkish beer in honour of the flotilla. By coincidence, I happen to have a 6er in the fridge. They’re a bisele sweet.

dpworkin's avatar

We could slow-roast some @Thebe over the hot coals.

zenele's avatar

@dpworkin Still time to Edit – quick – you meant The Bye bye – right?

BoBo1946's avatar

It’s so hot that I saw two trees fighting over a dog. : )

Let me catch my breath…been working in the yard! hot….....

I’ll bring my special barbecue sauce! Be glad to help with the grilling!

janbb's avatar

The be or not the be; that is the question.

dpworkin's avatar

@zenele you should know by now that I always say precisely what I mean.

zenele's avatar

I’ll slip an extra shrimp on the barbie for you @BoBo1946 – Come and say G’day.

zenele's avatar

@dpworkin Me too – I just typo a lot.

chyna's avatar

@janbb Aahhahahaha, you think the guacamole and chips will be left over? No way.
I always worry there won’t be enough beer, so I’m bringing the beer. I’ll eat anything that is on the barbie, so let’s get cooking.

Hawaii_Jake's avatar

While I love just about any kind of meat off the grill, I love vegetables, too: squash, onion, carrots, eggplant (aubergine), and don’t forget the portobello mushrooms.

I’ll need lots of diet soda, please.

I’ll bring the pineapple to put on the grill!

chels's avatar

Ribs smothered in BBQ pls. And beer. NOW.

Cruiser's avatar

Chicken and steak kabobs for sure with lots of tomatoes, mushroom, onion, peppers and pineapple. I would also have slow cooked beef ribs. Homemade slaw and salsa. Liters of Weiss beer and lemon with endless pitchers of Margaritas!

janbb's avatar

@Cruiser I’m first in line at your grill.

zenele's avatar

@janbb Get your ass back in the Yiddish thread.

janbb's avatar

@zenele This is the internet; I can be everywhere at once.

zenele's avatar

You are quite ubiquitous.

janbb's avatar

Why thank you, honey.

poofandmook's avatar

No barbecue will ever work without my potato salad. It’s wicked, if I do say so myself.

chyna's avatar

Hands @chels a cold one.

Berserker's avatar

As long as there’s plenty of beer, I’m fine with whatever.

Seaofclouds's avatar

I’ll take a steak and some decaf sweet tea.

cookieman's avatar

From the farm, I’ll bring just picked strawberries and some bison burgers from our butcher shop and a vase full of peonies.

MissA's avatar

@dpworkin Would that be Lark’s vomit?

I’ll bring rib-eyes…just enough marbling to make them juicy and tender. (I’m assuming you’ll have some mesquite?) And, i’ll bring potatoes with butter, wrapped and ready for the grill.

Sweet tea?

stranger_in_a_strange_land's avatar

Jumbo shrimp and filet mignon on the “barbie”, creamy potato salad and plenty of Bass IPA or Labatts Blue.

Cruiser's avatar

@stranger_in_a_strange_land Bass has an IPA??? No way!! That sounds awesome!!

stranger_in_a_strange_land's avatar

@Cruiser It’s been available in New England and Eastern Canada for the last 15 years.

Lightlyseared's avatar

I’ll eat anything as long as it’s lightly seared. sorry, couldn’t help myself

jazmina88's avatar

a simple lil bratwurst and plenty of watermelon please

stranger_in_a_strange_land's avatar

@jazmina88 Coming right up, ma’am. Mustard, relish?
