When is it ok to take vengeance on your own instead of trusting the system, if ever?

This can be about any matter in any country, since there are many variations of laws around the globe. Be creative!

One of my personal laws is never to answer any question by someone named “penis”

@gailcalled Hahaha, perfectly understandable

Never. Vengeance is the tool of the mentally weak.

I do it all the time. I have this ring that, when I put it on, changes my clothes on the molecular level to a tight fitting, black, bulletproof costume. I also drive a Corvette that changes, on the molecular level, to a bulletproof black car. With a neon scorpion on the hood.

The best revenge is living well. So yes, in that sense, have at it.

It is never OK.

When I was a medical resident, staying up for 40 hours at a time every few days, I used to have revenge fantasies of quitting, going to law school and becoming a malpractice attorney, then coming back to sue the crap out of everyone who had pissed me off.

That was fun. Not.

“The system,” as flawed as it may be, is about law and order, and about justice, not about vengeance. Individuals may want vengeance but it is better for all of us, for society as a whole, if people don’t seek vengeance.

That said, there are an awful lot of CEOs who took outrageous salaries and bonuses while intentionally screwing employees out of jobs and promised pensions knowing the system will not prosecute.
Some form of craziness might give pause to the next potential perpetrator.

[mod note] Username changed, and account disabled. The OP has been asked to create a new account with a less objectionable name.

I like the name penis. Very masculine.

So mods are now going to mod individuality. It is not a curse word, it is a part on the anatomy.
If someone wants to have the name IndexFinger will they need to change that too?

There goes free expression.

@ChazMaz We’ve had quite a few names like this in the past, and we’ve always handled it like that. Just following the SOP.

I understand, you have a job to do. :-)

Just wanted to give my insight. It is what Fluther is all about. ;-)

@ChazMaz: Many lost opportunities, I agree. Think of the business letter.

Dear Mr. Penis
Dear Sir or Madam Penis
Dear Penis;
Dear Penis or occupant.

The Quakers use both first and last names when they address someone.

Dear Penis Smallboy
Dear Smallboy Penis

And the love letter:

My darling (beloved) Penis; that works the best, I think.

@gailcalled You forgot “Penis Amongus”

At least it was a short name.
