What are the original uncut scenes that were left on the original VHS of Maximum Overdrive?

Asked by joshuacorns (13points) June 13th, 2010

Stephen King’s movie from 1986 was cut for violence to avoid an X rating. Does anybody have the original uncut VHS, and if so, can you describe the VHS cover as well as the cut scenes? Thank you.

all I know for sure is that a scene of kids head getting run over by a steamroll was cut. Hold on to your VHS copies, film fans, quite often DVD releases have shit altered/cut out.

The box shows Billy on the cover, with some trucks underneath him, and the catch phrase on the bottom of the box says ’‘who made who’’, obviously referring to ACDC. I can’t find a pic of it online though, it always shows a different cover I’ve never actually seen before.

The DVD version was remastered but most of the gore was edited away, although what scenes were ’‘cut’’ instead of painted over are relatively little. For example, the famous steamroller scene is still there, but in the VHS version, you see a trail of blood on the big wheel thing as it chases the other kid on the bike, and it leaves a red trail of gore behind as it rolls on. The DVD version just leaves it spotless.

Also, the shooting scene near the end where that little machine gun tank thing goes nuts has WAAAY more splatter than the DVD version. And the scene in the beginning where that dude sticks the gas pump in his eye, in the VHS version you see the result of the erupting gasoline in his face, showing his eye all inflated and big then it pours over with all this blood and mushy puss shit.

Symbeline, did you say you own a copy of the uncut version on VHS? Is this the cover you’re talking about?

Thanks again!

Dude, there it is! :D I’m thinking it must be one of the first releases, so it must be worth preserving. :) even though mine is all fucked up
