Addressing chocolate brown envelopes?
So, my wedding colors were chocolate brown and teal, and in this vein, my stationary has all matched. The trouble I’m having now is with my thank you notes. Since the invitations were brown in teal envelopes, I’m doing teal thank you notes in dark brown envelopes. But dark brown is awfully hard to write on.
I thought about addressing them with ultra-fine tip silver Sharpie® markers, but evidently Sharpie doesn’t even /make/ an ultra-fine tip silver marker. I’ve tried frosted address labels, too, but they’re hard to read.
Does anybody have any suggestions for addressing these dark brown envelopes? I’ll buy something if I have to, I just need to get these goofy things in the mail!

Do you remember those pale gel pens we used to write all over our hands with in Junior High? Try to get some of those. I know they have a billion colours now – perhaps even a pastel teal.
I know from shopping in Craft stores that markers which write in gold are much easier to find than silver, for some reason.
There is a really nice line by Marvy which has tons of different colors and a good reputation.
Try stores like Michaels, AC Moore, Joann Fabric and Cradts.
Another brand to look for is Martha Stewarts line, but not a lot of stores carry it. I believe that Walmart does tho.

They have a store locator on their site.
Take a look at the Pigmented Metallic. That’s what you want and they have both gold and silver. Each double ended pen has both a broad tip and a fine tip.
They have a good reputation among both artists as well as crafters.
I have a few suggestions:
- A permanent black marker with a really fine tip, depending on how dark brown your shade of brown is, it may be readable;
– Another metallic colour like gold (as @Buttonstc says) could work really well if it is a good quality pen;
– Address label stickers, perhaps in a lighter shade of brown, or gold, or teal, either plain or decorative – although this might look less neat than writing directly on to the envelope!
Oh! If you wanted to do calligraphy, I get a silver calligraphy ink at Michael’s. It’s very, very nice. I think they have a gold one as well.
I can use gold if absolutely necessary, but my accent colors were white and silver. (I’ve never been a fan of gold.) The next time I run up to “town” (our mall is about thirty minutes away) I’ll check in Michael’s and see what I can find.
@reverie – they’re too dark for just black. They’re a deep brown.
@Seek_Kolinahr – I hadn’t thought about calligraphy! My parents got me a set for Christmas, so that’s definitely something to look at the next time I get to Michael’s. Thank you!
I just edited in detailed info for Marvy above.
Check them out.
Here are some acrylic paint markers. I’ve used this brand before on some professional work and they were quite good. The chisel tip lets you do fine point or calligraphy-styled lettering.
Scroll down for color choices- they have turquoise and silver, among others.
ETA- Here is another brand. I haven’t tried these, but they have ultra-fine tips if you prefer that route. No colors, but they do have silver.
I have nothing to add, but wanted to say it sounds really pretty.
Design and print out a teal and brown mailing label, and write the address on the label.
