Is there an Android phone other than the G1 with 5 rows of keys?

Asked by bootonthroat (344points) June 19th, 2010

I wish to choose my phone based largely upon OS (Android) and typing speed. I don’t care what it costs, how big it is, etc. I am in the United States.

There are several HTC phones with 5 rows of keys and also a LG. Those are the only ones I’ve seen with 5 rows of keys. I don’t know anything else about them as they’ve never interested me.

@Seaofclouds: Can you name one which is Android based?

The HTC Dream is android based and the LG one I linked is android based. I’m not sure about the other HTC phones (I’ve only seen the Dream), but they are listed on their site.

Thank you @Seaofclouds

I believe the HTC Dream is the G1? I wish I could become excited and rush out to purchase the LG InTouch Max but alas it isn’t much of an upgrade from the G1 so I must wait a little longer.

perhaps this one will be worth the wait:

Ohh, that sucks. I’ve never heard the Dream referred to as a G1. Sorry. Good luck finding another phone with the 5 rows in the keyboard. It seems like most of the phones have 4 rows. I have the Droid and even though it has 4 rows, I have been able to still type pretty well. Have you checked out the different 4 rows phones as well?

@Seaofclouds I do a lot of programming so I don’t want the number keys to require a modifier… otherwise I might consider the Droid or Droid 2 out next month.

That makes sense. I hope you are able to find one.
