the really question to ask yourself is do you want to find out
I do not know but why chance it
They did a segment on MythBusters about this.
From here:
Myth: Cellphones don’t interfere with plane instrumentation—it’s a conspiracy to get passengers to pay the higher priced in-flight phones.
Result: Using a faraday cage to block outside interference, the MythBusters set up a few common instruments from jetliners inside while using a cellphone. At 800–900MHz (a common cellphone bandwidth frequencies), there’s definite interference on some of the aircraft instrumentation. Because of federal law, they can’t test in the air, though they’re able to do so on a grounded private plane., and the tests there show no interference at all. The MythBusters call the conspiracy busted because they believe the airlines are simply not taking any chances with cellphones, since new ones with new frequencies are coming out every day.
I think 60 minutes or 20/20 did a story and came up with the same general conclusion as mythbusters. I think its about liability.
I think its like us shooting down the satellite we know we could do it no problem but we waited till our guy were out of space first
It causes problems with the cell network, which was designed to be used from the ground and not from the air. It also actually gets people to turn the damn things off, which wouldn’t happen if it weren’t for that fake safety story with federal regulations behind it.
As far as I’m concerned, I’m quite pleased the airlines don’t allow cell phones; flying is sufficiently unpleasant already without having to put up with the guy next to you yakking on his phone for four hours.
