What do you all think of the classic CIA question now that global changes have been made on Fluther?

Look at it now! Anybody think it should be restored to its original or at least its original redacted state?
[I have only been here since March, but I have come to consider some of these things cultural treasures.]

I couldn’t give a flying fig out of a rolling donut. :)
It’s not funny any more and kinda looks stupid. I think it should be deleted.
The people who remember it don’t need it to be recreated, and the ones who don’t remember it don’t care enough to give a shit.
so why did @eambos responses not get deleted along with the rest of it?
First time I have seen it.
Should we remove it? No way! We mods go in there and party all the time! oh and we can read it all…..
@Dog You mods have all the fun!!
To answer the question, it’s sort of like the 60s – if you remember it, you probably weren’t there.
Well, it’s turned into a meta-joke, hasn’t it? Heh.
I missed it. I’d almost volunteer to mod to read it.
@anartist It was really funny. You had to be quick though, they took off comments almost immediately.
I wasn’t here for it. I do think it looks kind of silly, but from what I’ve heard, it was good when it was active.
@dpworkin that doesn’t really explain anyting does it? 400+ quipps are deleted enmass and the only 3 that survive are all from the same user!
I agree with @wundayatta. It’s just dumb and pointless now.
Or else, since it’s been archived anyway, let us all have our first look at the whole thing—give us a week, let’s say—and then ditch it. It certainly is no fun whatsoever any more.
@Lightlyseared, just to be enigmatic. Responses disappeared in clusters, sometimes en masse, sometimes selectively, as if there were some meaning and significance to it, as if there were a pattern. It was a game to see how long your response would stay up and how much of a thread you could get going before They came along. Sometimes it was minutes, sometimes days.
Well clearly @eambos was a CIA mole.
And yeah…it’s pretty silly out of context, but it’s a nice piece of lore for those that were there.
Ah – good Old Fluther; shame you newbies missed it! Just kidding – really!
@cprevite That is the only answer that makes sense. And he hasn’t been back in months. Hmm…that’s fishy.
Don’t delete it until the World Cup is over. I don’t give a damn about soccer, but until its over, I have my vuvuzela and I’m not afraid to use it.
I had to sign out to see it the way it looks to non-mods, and I have to say… it does look pretty darn silly now. :(
What about this:
Once day a year- and just one day every year- all the responses will be visible. :D
That way new users each year will get a chance to see it and enjoy the responses. As a Mod I would not in the least mind being the one to unlock and lock the responses on the chosen day and think it would be a really fun tradition!
@Dog I like that idea. Can you do it?
That would be pretty easy actually so long as it is good with all the mods and Ben & Andrew.
Locking it back up will take some time but I would not mind because it would be so fun to have it visible for a day.
If we consider it what day would be chosen? Should it be significant to Fluther?
Or just some random day?
I don’t see any point to that kind of nonsense.
Some of the stuff that was modded were personal attacks, not a good idea.
@YARNLADY what do you do for fun? Seriously, you spout off often about the “nonsense” on this site that so many of us find amusing, I can’t help but wonder… What is your idea of fun?
@chyna Not the CIA thread. I thought that someone was proposing un-modding everything.
@Dog What is the date of the first question? I think it is the salt question. Maybe you could use that date?
@Dog I would choose the anniversary date of the question, January 10th.
I think that no matter how it is set up it is still a funny thread.
@jonsblond I like that idea, although the date is so far off. :-(
It’s so hard to even load the page. I have to wait like 30 seconds.
The thread seems pointless now. I’m not sure I care about reading it all again. The fun was in the doing not the remembering.
I second @tinyfaery on that, I an certain I wouldn’t read that thread given the chance. If I remember correctly, most of the quips were just wondering how long before the quips were removed. The funny part was having them removed.
True that the fun was in seeing things removed but there is a lot of fun silliness in there too. (No personal attacks at all @stranger_in_a_strange_land)
@SuperMouse A fair question. When I want to be amused I go to a professional joke site, or the comic section, where I can pick and choose which cartoons to read. Sometimes I choose a recorded performance of Robin Williams or watch one of the many comedy shows on TV.
When I want questions and answers, I hardly ever appreciate the quips that pass for humor
I wasnt a jelly yet…..I love our princess diary rhyme thread…right before zenele’s name change
@YARNLADY A professional joke site? So much of humor and fun is interplay between people. And you prefer canned jokes?
@anartist When my sister and I were growing up, we laughed ourselves falling on the ground silly with the kind of interplay I see on Fluther, but I don’t enjoy it on this site.
I also like Jay Leno, and practically laugh my head off at his jokes. Many people have said “Well that explains it” in discussions of my (odd) sense of humor. I don’t find the Three Stooges or Simpsons or Charlie Chaplin funny, but I laugh at most of the Monty Python movies. I loved the Laugh-In show, I think the Smother’s Brothers, Bill Cosby and Weird Al Yankovic are hilarious. I hardly ever laughed at I Love Lucy or George Carlin jokes.
