Can anyone recommend some good romantic comedies from the 1960's?
I was just watching “Barefoot in the Park” and a few weeks ago saw “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”. (I’ve seen them often.) I really like this light style of romantic comedy of the 60s. I know that the former was based on Neil Simon’s play and the latter on Truman Capote’s novella. I suppose that Doris Day movies would be 60’s classics as well.
Can you recommend any others from this particular decade (or a bit earlier but still in that era) that are similar? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank you!

I was surprised by how much I loved Bringing Up Baby
Oh, oops, that’s hardly the 60’s.
Charade and What’s New Pussycat? are the best of the lot.
To Sir With Love. With Sidney Poitier.
The Apartment
Also, from the 1950s:
Roman Holiday
Some Like It Hot
And since @Rarebear ‘s link doesn’t work, try this.
Let’s see if I can get @Rarebear‘s link to work…
Edit: Works for me now!
“Same Time Next Year” is really great but it is from 1978
It starred Alan Alda and Ellen Burstyn
It is set in the 1960s through the 1970s
Dr. Strangelove isn’t exactly a romance…
I thought Irma La Douce was sweet.
Love With A Proper Stranger
An American In Paris – honestly, anything with Gene Kelly
It’s a comedy but not a romantic one, I’d recommend It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad, World (1963). It starred pretty much every famous comedian of the era and has a load of cameos (even the three stooges) and is still one of the funniest movies ever made.
@syzygy2600 The bucket gag gets me every time. :) Good call.
@filmfann: I agree!
“What’s New Pussycat?”
“Cactus Flower”
Those are two of my favorites!
How on earth did I not thank all of you…?? For such great, great movies???
I just missed giving you a great thanks…and lurve…so THANK YOU…
Yes, only two years late, lol!
But, better late than never…with my deep apologies…
Lurve coming to you….you rock!
