Is there a cell phone/ app/ program that can dial from listening to tones?

I saw a phone on fringe that could dial a number based on the tones, is the a phone that can really do that, or an iPhone app or a PC program? That would be so cool!

Not that I particularly know of, so I’m hoping someone else can answer your question, but this reminds me of the days of old, when people would go “phone phreaking”. If you haven’t heard of it, it’s actually a pretty cool thing that even Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs were a part of (in fact, Woz built quite the nice tone box!). Basically, you use a box that produces tones to simulate coin insertion and number tones and then you could make free phone calls from pay phones! Here’s the Wiki page for it!
