Jokes are made all the time about money-grubbing, insincere tv preachers. But is there just one that you enjoy watching even if you think he’s a big fake? I Love Jim Bakker!!

Joel Osteen.
Though I usually don’t trust people that blink while talking.
And Wintley Phipps. He is a good singer and a friend of mine.
I haven’t watched CBN since I was younger, but I love Joel Osteen as well.
No…the ones I’ve watched seem to be charismatic and manipulative, which turns off any desire to listen to their message.
The only one I like is Father Francis John Patrick Mulcahy on MASH, altho he is not terribly preachy, thank goodness. See ya…...Gary/wtf
I like Joel Olsteen too. and the guy on MASH
This one, even though he certainly strikes me as pretty fake, but I think I’d be praising God too if I went through what he does.
I also have to give a nod to Father Murphy (after all, Merlin Olsen was an L.A. (home of the World Champion Lakers) Ram and one hell of a football player can I say hell when we are talking television preachers??? Well then, hell yeah!
See ya…..Gary/wtf
I watched Osteen for a few minutes and he wasn’t even talking about god, he was just telling people to have a positive outlook on life and do the right thing so that was pretty cool.
Nope. I think there all hucksters who couldn’t make it as used car salesmen.
I must say I love, love, love, religious programming. I have several favorites including Rod Parsley” and Dr. Charles Stanley. I also love the creationist TV Show Origins with Dr. Donn Chapmann. This show sets out to prove how the world connot be older than 5,000 years old.
There is no better entertainment then bad religious TV.
@Blackberry That’s what Joel does , alright. He admitted on an interview to NEVER mentioning HELL or eternal punishent . His reason? Not to increase his income; because “it just isn’t me.” Huh?
He is very inspirational. His dad was a poor street minister and he’d tag along.
No. May they all burn in hell.
Not that I want to admit to liking a Baptist (recovering Baptist here), but I find that Charles Stanley seems very humble and sincere and I like listening to him. He’s with some Baptist church in Atlanta, I think.
He’s not on much these days but Billy Graham is the Gold Standard here as far as I’m concerned.
Never a trace of scandal, financially or otherwise. As a matter of fact he was one of the first to make independent audits of his organizations finances publicly available.
I don’t remember the exact name, but he started an organization for this specific purpose.
Someone who practices what they preach and is accountable gets my respect.
Interestingly enough, he was also the first Southern preacher to eliminate segregated seating in his crusades at a time in history when it was definitely not popular to do so. It cost him popularity among numerous preachers and church groups but he wouldn’t backtrack.
He said straightforwardly, ” there is no scriptural justification for segregation of the races”.
Obviously history vindicated his position but he had the courage to be in the forefront on this issue.
He is also the one to have uttered the famous quote that the most segregated hour in America is every Sunday morning.
So he gets my vote.
Odd Thomas is pretty good
No. They’re social parasites who feed on the gullible and the weak-minded. Sadly, there’s nothing very likable about any of them.
