Does anyone know what The Wizard of OZ board game was that was in a book form?

Asked by julia999 (343points) June 25th, 2010

I remember a board game I used to play with my mum when I was little (10 years ago), which was based on the Wizard of Oz. I have scoured the Internet but cannot seem to find it.

It had the following features:
*It was in a book form
*Each page presented a different map/place, eg. one was a spider web where the pieces had to try to get out of it I think.
*It was illustrated (i.e. not photos)
*It was bought in Australia (though this probably doesn’t help much)

Please let me know if you know of such a book. It has been lost for many years and I wish I could just SEE it and remember the fun I had with my mum.

Thank you.

I wish someone who knew would answer this. I searched all corners of the Internet and couldn’t find anything that even came close to this description.

I did find an Oz board game from 1921, and an Oz version of Life and Monopoly, though.

I remember seeing something like that at the Wizard of Oz Museum in Kansas. We went to it about 6 months ago. I don’t remember seeing a name on it, but I’ll look through my pictures to see if I might be able to figure it out.

Thank you for your help guys. My mum can’t even remember it! But it was very colourful and definitely in a book-form, but beyond that I don’t know.

It probably has a very generic name like “Wizard of Oz game” which is why it’s so difficult to find, or perhaps only a few of them were made.

I don’t have a picture of it. If I ever go back to the museum, I’ll try to remember to look at it.

If it were me, I’d contact a source that, if they didn’t have an immediate answer, would help with the research. Here is one:
