How would you modify the plot if you changed the genre of the movie 'Up' to thriller?

Asked by ilvorangeiceblocks (865points) June 26th, 2010

Would you switch the ‘good’ side with the ‘bad’ side? Or would you change the motives of the characters? What sort of elements of the movie would you change? Are there any memorable quotes which could be interpreted in a different way?

As the house ascends Russell hides in a closet and discovers the dessicated body of Ellie.
(Mayhem ensues.)

The dastardly mad scientist snatches Russell in order to have someone to carry on his work. He puts one of the control collars on him. Carl has to take the house and go and save him. Will he be in time?

@Cruiser Nice touch. Was it a new sash or an old one? GA

Better yet: Carl is the one who gets a control collar. The collar is designed to break the wearer’s free will by injecting him with psychoactive drugs that bring up his darkest memories and give him vivid hallucinations of all his inner demons. Carl has to come to terms with the horrors he’s seen and the atrocities he’s committed back when he served in Vietnam, before the collar drives him insane.

Sounds like a good sub-plot to a thriller.

Carl actually shoves Russell out of the house when they first take off, and spends the rest of the movie slowly going insane from the guilt.

Kevin is not as benign as she seems.
