Are you a fan of Super Mario?
So my roommate had this old Snes (Super Nintendo.) with some games, including Super Mario World and Super Mario All Stars which includes revamped ports of the first three on Nes, (Nintendo.) plus an extra game never released overseas, Lost Levels.
Anyways we hooked it all up we’ve been playing them all weekend. I used to play those older games years ago, and really enjoyed them, but I don’t think I’m that much a Mario fan because I never really followed his progress. I’m sure all the Mario games out now are just as awesome, maybe I’ll give em a try some day.
What about you though? Are you a Mario fan? past of present, or all of it? Or not? Stories to tell? Mushrooms to eat?

I love Super Mario World. It’s my absolute favorite out of all of the Mario games.
I use to have a Super Nintendo before it went kaput and I’ve actually been thinking of buying a new one. You can get them on Amazon for like $40 and the games for maybe $8 a piece. Just gotta look for it. Hellz yeah.
My other favorite game was Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest. I could play that shit for hours. My record was about 21 hours straight. :)
Super Mario World IMO was the best one out, until Super Mario 64 came out which was AWESOME.
All the Mario based games are good, but none are as great as the ones mentioned above.
Again, IMO, but I think there is one exception which was Super Mario Sunshine, which was soooo boring.
Oh yea, SUPER MARIO CART. That rocks as well.
I’ve been a Mario fan for a long time (since it came out). Still had my original NES up until about 2 years ago when I gave it to a friend of mine because I was moving. I had all 3 of the original Mario Brothers games. The 2nd one was actually my favorite!
I remember pausing the game so that we could eat dinner and then immediately running back out to play it again.
And I can’t wait ‘til I can get a cheap copy of “The NEW Super Mario Bros.” for Wii
I can’t decide whether or not I like SMB3 or SMW better.
Yes. Super Mario Bros. (circa 1985 on NES) was the first video game I had ever played. I have played every Mario game since. Overall I feel the quality of Mario games has been relatively consistent, while having their highs (Super Mario – N64) & their lows (Mario Sunshine -GCN), I remain a fan simply because Nintendo has never forgotten the basic principle of the video game industry… if you are not having fun, it’s not a good video game. Their newer Mario titles (New Super Mario Bros. Wii & Mario Galaxy 2) have definitely been more fun to play than others as of late.
Having been raised with a Mario game in the living room all my life, it is hard for me to give an unbiased report on Mario. I love that little Italian. (I love Yoshi more though).
@mrrich724, have you never played it? If not… oh man – you need to find a cheap copy & soon. I’d send you mine, but I could never part with it. :) It is so much fun. Having 4 people playing at the same time is just nuts. I’ll wish really hard tonight in hopes of a pixelated stork dropping a copy off at your front door in the morning.
@Symbeline I loved the RPG style Mario games. I know a lot of people didn’t really get into the feel of those games, but I did. It was a nice change of pace from the typical platform jumper. I am currently replaying (on my Gamecube, even though I have a Wii) Paper Mario & re-loving every second of it.
I also loved the RPG games for the DS – Partners in Time & Bowser’s Inside Story… both a lot of fun.
Yeah, I totally love Legend of the Seven Stars. I spent so many sleepless nights going through it.
Oh yeah! Super Mario World rules! I also love the original, and the new stuff for Wii.
Don’t forget to celebrate Mar10 day on March 10th! (I invented it and my friends and I celebrate it every year).
Yis. Perhaps the best game series evar, up there with Zelda.
They have incredibly creative worlds and artwork, but more importantly, they’ve advanced more than any other game the “feeling” of playing a videogame. The first games had a gravity to them that no other game at the time had. Without Mario 64, we would not have real 3-D games (we’d have Tomb Raider and Crash Bandicoot).
Zaxxon started 3D years ago. But yeah, no plumbers, no deal.
Love love LOVE. Love the old 2D stuff, love Super Mario 64, love Super Mario Galaxy.
I’m a fan of the games. Even though i prefer Sonic the Hedgehog as a character, Mario’s got better games overall. I still have my SNES, and I still play All-Stars. If you like it, try New Super Mario Bros. it’s a 2.5D continuation of the older NES-style games.
Yes, of course I am. I know it may sounds foolish but Mario is one of my best friends. When something goes wrong in my life I just turn on the Nintendo and as soon as I start playing all my problems seems to go away. I’ve played Mario my entire life and I think I’ll always do. It’s a passion. And try the new Super Mario Galaxy 2 at the Nintendo Wii, it’s really awesome, not as good as Super Mario World but still!
Lots of mushrooms to eat.
I love “Super Mario,” because I have a Nintendo GameCube and an N64 and I also love playing as Mario in “Super Smash Brothers” a lot.
