Anyway, @astrochuck is the iconic jelly, to me. I have admired his humor from the day I first saw it. I have come to rely on it. I wanted to be like him. Really. That probably sounds weird, but he is such a people pleaser and people love his jokes and I wanted to be like that.

He has a serious side, too, which always surprises me. His questions come from across the border, it seems to me. I never expect them. But he’s actually deep—something his humor seems to cover over much of the time.

Welcome to the island, Big Guy! We have lemonade and Koolaid and hot dogs—all you might want! And squirt guns and Wii and you can sleep in a big space ship bed at night, if you like. Or camp out on the beach. You’ll have more fun than you can imagine. The staff are all friendly and helpful, and will even let you rope them into a game, if you insist.

Today…I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of this earth.

Jellies, for the past two weeks you have been reading about how close I’ve been to crossing that elusive 30K threshold. And let me tell you the pressure and anticipation leading to that doorway has been unbearable. So much so that it has left me a shattered fellow, a shell of what I had been in just the previous weeks. Yet today I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of the earth.

I have been on Fluther 2½ years and have never received anything but kindness and encouragement from you jellies. Look at these grand flutherites. Which of you wouldn’t consider it the highlight of his internet career just to associate with them for even one day?

Sure I’m lucky.

Who wouldn’t consider it an honor to have known Augustlan? Also, the builders of this great Fluther empire, Ben and Andrew? To have spent two and a half years with that wonderful matriarch, Gailcalled? And let’s not forget Chyna, Zen (or whatever he is going by today), Tinyfaery, Marina, Kevbo, Dog, Syz, Daloon Wundayatta, ubersiren, and all the others? (Sorry. Just can’t fit everyone in there. Just know you’re included.)

Sure I’m lucky.

When the New York Giants, a team you would give your right arm to beat, and vice versa, sends you a gift – that’s something. When everybody down to the groundskeepers and those boys in white coats remember you with trophies—that’s something.

When you have a wonderful mother-in-law who takes sides with you in squabbles with her own daughter, that’s something.

When you have a father and a mother who work all their lives so you can have an education and build your body mind—it’s a blessing.

When you have a wife (Parrothead) who has been a tower of strength and shown more courage than you dreamed existed—that’s the finest I know.

So, I close in saying that I might have been given a bad break, but I’ve got an awful lot to live for.
