I'm curious , How many people trust or don't trust their boss at work?

Asked by Adirondackwannabe (36713points) July 2nd, 2010

A question was asked about rewarding workers for showing up early. I answered about how I managed a department and one of the most important things to me was covering my employee’s backs so they knew I was protecting them and not micromanaging them. Last I looked that answer had 7 GA’s. I was pretty young then (I took over when I was 27) and idealistic, but those people worked their asses off for me. I was wondering what other people have experienced, either as a supervisor or as an employee.

I do trust her. She has never lied to me and would never throw me under the bus to save herself. I don’t necessarily like the way she runs the show, but I can trust her to tell me the truth and do the right thing.

I don’t trust her. She’ll say she goes to the mat for each and every one of us, but then undermine many of us in front of other workers. She also tends to use her personal tragedy (her daughter died 10 years ago) to get her way or as an excuse. Plus, she’s the type that will promise that she’ll tell you if there’s a problem so you can do something about it, but then instead just fire you after avoiding communication for months. I don’t work my butt off for her anymore – but at least once a day, a coworker that I like will need something done first or really fast or 5:10 and I’ll go out of my way to help them.

I’ve had a few bosses that I really didn’t trust and a few that I became good friends with.

I trust him for the most part. Although I don’t see him much outside of work I have reason to believe that he is a genuinley decent human being. However, the place I work can be very clichey and my boss is part of he “popular crowd” (it’s a bit like school where I work), for that reason I don’t think I can trust anyone there 100%.

I trust my boss. She’s already proved time and time again that she will stick up for the team.

I not only trust my boss but love and respect her. She is the best supervisor I have ever had and is a truly genuine and caring person. We have become fast friends and support each other through tough times at work and in life.

I trust my boss. I trusted all my bosses of the past. I would never work for a boss I don’t trust. This is why a good education is so important. It gives people a choice which job to take.

I have never had an issue with trusting my boss, possibly because my boss is usually hundreds of miles away. If you have that sort of distance, the job would never get completed without mutual trust.

I do have a coordinator that suddenly forgets things if they are tasks not to her liking. I have begun to put all instructions to her in email to avoid that subterfuge.
