In the last year I've become really allergic to cats. Anything I can do to help it?

Yesterday, about this time in the afternoon, I was at my best friend’s house. She has tons of cats. I knew I shouldn’t touch them, but I stroked one on it’s back. I mean, 1 stroke. That’s it. Then I almost rubbed my eye because I was tired but I remembered I shouldn’t. So I barely even touched my eye. I was fine until now. I am miserable! My nose is running, my eye is insanely itchy, and I’m just pretty miserable. Any help? What can I do for it? I’ve been washing my eye with water, and it’s been helping a bit, but I’m still pretty miserable. I’m thinking I’ll take some allergy medicine, but is there anything else I could do? It’d be nice to have something to do if I’m stuck without allergy medicine in the future.
