Please help! My dog's problem has turned into my new favorite addiction. Is there a home remedy to help us both?

Asked by RealEyesRealizeRealLies (30960points) July 6th, 2010

About two weeks ago my dog started tearing from one of his eyes. I don’t know why, but I really enjoy pulling the giant eye buggers from his face every morning. He hates it. I love it! Don’t ask me why.

Well, before I become too addicted, do you know of any home remedy that will solve our problem? He’s in no pain and doesn’t scratch at it. It is not swollen or red. It’s just a great big giant eye bugger factory that entertains me in the morning.

It’s gone on long enough that something must be done. Should I take him to the vet, or do you have the cure?

I’ve known plenty of folks who pull eye buggers from their cats. And they seem to love doing it too. But I’ve never experienced this with any dog.

Please help. Please help us both. We can’t live with the shame any longer.

He may have some sort of infection. If this is new and uncharacteristic, I would definitely take him to the vet (or call-it may be cheaper). He could even have a scratch on his eye or something that you can’t see….

Never thought of eye bugger pulling as an addiction——but whateva!

Just take him to the vet, and you’ll both be relieved…

There’s got to be a 12 step program for dog eye boogers.

Have your vet make sure his eyes are fine. If they are, then you may just be a bit compulsive~

I also have this addiction. My dog likes it….she argues and turns her head but shakes her head in freedom afterward, just like getting boogers out of a baby. She is 16 and 5 months on the 13th. It’s not shameful…..dogs are like cats…..in some fashions.
