Whom do you miss?

Asked by zenele (8260points) July 7th, 2010

And why?

I really, really miss my grandparents lately. I keep seeing their pictures around the house, dream of them on occasion and miss them. Wish they were here to see their great-granchildren. Love you B and Z! – wherever in heaven you are.

My beloved Meghan. Always.

I miss my buddy Michael the most…he always had time to just hang out and we always had wild adventures every day of the week as teenagers. For better of for worse, he shaped me more than my parents.

@stranger_in_a_strange_land I know buddy. {{{man hugs }}}

Edit: @cruiser I had a friend like that – we parted ways at 24ish – never to rekindle the friendhsip, sadly. He helped to shap my teen years as well.

I miss my mommy buddies back home in California. We had a great time together and shared an incredible bond.

My aunt Pork…..and uncle Wayne…....were the best LOVE in the fam

@jazmina88 Your aunt Pork?

For me, it’s my parents. My Mom gone 5 years, and my Dad nearly 26. It never gets easier.
The worst time is when I hear a news item, or a sports item, and my first instinct is to call my Dad and tell him. Then I remember I can’t.

I miss my sisters and my Mom.

Dad and sister Chris. They both still influence me. And they both would have liked my fiancé.

You might find some solace in a story my my other sister wrote. It’s posted on this thread. It’s the 11th answer.

I miss having a partner. I always thought that the father of my child would be a huge part of my life. I thought he’d be here with me every day and help and raise the child and share my passions in life. Share the responsibility and the every day joy, triumphs and scraps and bruises. Go to bed together at night and kiss and hold each other and talk about the day together. Instead… I have a child that requires special care and help… and I’m all he’s got; me and the help the state provides.

Baxter and Deedee the dogs as well as plenty of other four legged friends, dogs and otherwise that have passed away and my boyfriend who I haven’t spoken to for at least 5 hours!!!

I miss my grandpa (Poppy). He was a huge part of my life and he was funny, odd and he loved his kids and grandkids with every ounce of his soul. He was fantastic and I miss him.

I also miss my best friend growing up, Robin, that now lives in Washington. We talk often, but I still miss seeing her.

My mom
Because she’s a wonderful lady and doesn’t deserve anything that’s happening right now.

I miss “Mommy”, the woman who had me stay with her when I first moved to NYC and basically took me in as her own kid, even though I was 24. What a sweet woman. She loved me the way moms love their kids and the way I should have been as a child. And besides that, she was just a cool lady.

@Facade you mother may not be near you, but I am sure she feels your love and she is lucky to have such a caring daughter.

Facade's avatar

@SuperMouse I hope she does

@Facade she will honey <hugs>

I miss my Grandmother, My Dad, my DIL and my dear sweet friend Lesley who was taken from us last october. There are also so many of my fur babies loved and sadly gathered over the years, I remember and love each of them.

@zenele this is such a sweet question, thank you

I’ve given up on my dad. He obviously doesn’t want to be found. So be it.

I do miss my little sister, but again, she doesn’t seem interested in me, either. In fact, the only time she even suggested anything that could be construed as wanting to see me was when she complained about needing money and asked whether I needed a babysitter. She’s never even met my son.

More than anything, I miss living under the delusion that my family was normal. Knowledge is stressful and depressing.

I miss my best friends from high school who have become distant as they get more involved in their own lives. I miss Peanut and Cocoa and Tessa, pets who died years ago, and I already miss Pickle, my 16-year-old kitty who probably won’t make it through the summer.

I miss my friend who died one year ago on the 24th of this month. To think he was still alive at this time last year is such a strange feeling. I miss not being able to say goodbye.

@filmfann Aunt Pork is short for Porcupine….her hair went straight up, supposedly. My Mom was called Pooch because of her belly.

and my sweet cat Venus…..I still miss sleepin with her.

I miss my best friend from college… haven’t seen her in exactly 2 months, when I’m used to seeing her every day. She is fantastic, I miss having her around. Luckily, I’m living with her next year, so I’ll get my fair share :D

I’m with you zenele. I miss both my grandparents, they played such a huge part in my life which makes me lucky that I can close my eyes and picture them both doing such great things with me :-)

I miss my Dad who passed away. I miss my friends and family in America. I miss my soulmate (though I don’t know who that is yet in this life).

zenele's avatar

@OreetCocker Smiles.

In future, it’s easier to know you are writing to me (or someone) if you use the @zenele sign – which stands out – espcially in long threads. True – it’s my question so I should technically read everything – but sometimes they get long and I don’t see very well.

Thanks for your posts. You are always welcome in my (mishigine) world.

I miss my friend Dale. He’s been gone 3 years now and I often think he’ll laugh with me about something before I remember.
