Trying to get my printer to work with Ubuntu. Suggestions?

Asked by Nullo (22028points) July 8th, 2010

Running Ubuntu 9.10. The printer is a Lexmark Z2300. I’ve got the right driver I think, but each attempt to print results in a Print Error: there was a problem processing document.

Where did you get the driver?

Personally, just about everything I have on the Ubuntu side of my PC is from the official repositories (often the“restricted extras” portion) since that is the stuff that is proven to work. If Canonical doesn’t have it, there is usually a reason for it.

Here is a link to a forum thread about Z2300 drivers for Ubuntu that has a few links to drivers. Let me know if it helps.

Try to going to System :> Administration> Hardware drivers. Or just do an update with the printer plugged in. Also.. Ubuntu 10.04 has a far more expansive driver set, and they fixed the initial graphics problem.
