What would be your dream breaksfast?
Mine would be egg on toast, but the egg yolk must still be runny (but cooked!). Also, there’d have to be pancakes of some sort, with syrup. And FRESHLY squeezed ice-cold orange juice, with the cells still it in. I’m probably forgetting something, but anyway.

Chopped eggs in a cup with butter and freshly-ground black peppercorns; properly cooked homefries, fried with onions, garlic, green peppers, and mushrooms (the homefries need to be crisp on the outside, but soft on the inside, and most restaurants off-cook their homefries, making them either hard as rocks or mushy clear through); lightly-buttered rye toast with pure maple syrup to dip it in; and a few strips of fakeon (very thinly-sliced tofu, marinaded overnight in tamarind-based steak sauce, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and liquid smoke, fried until crisp in a hot pan – my own recipe, and one even the meat-eaters I know enjoy).
A proper English breakfast is my absolute fave (and throw in an extra egg!). Ironically, the best English brekkie I ever had was in Sydney. Go figure.
found at the Ole Cracker Barrel….grandpa’s breakfast! Two eggs overlight, grits, biscuits, gravy, and turkey saugage! Oh, and some good orange juice and coffee!
Fresh OJ, French drip coffee with fresh cream, biscuits and sausage gravy, with grits.
I had this breakfast years ago in a restaurant in New Orleans. It was a belgian waffle topped with sweet whipped cream with strawberries on the side. It was then drizzled with a rich home-made carmel sauce and crunchy carmelized pecans. Pure heaven!
Completely home-made Eggs Benedict. It’s the goal I’m working towards. It’ll be a year or two till I have my own homemade bacon/ham, as well as cheese/butter, but I’ve got the bread and eggs down pat!
Nova Scotia lox on bagel with cream cheese and slice of onion, two easy-over eggs, fresh-squeezed orange or grapefruit juice, and ice-cold milk. Years ago I frequented a little place in Manhattan that served this and have loved it ever since.
Ya’ll makin’ me hungry now!
@betterdays – those DO sounds like heaven indeed!!
@SmashTheState – i’m gonna have to try your fakeon one day, it sounds yummy! And hopefully a tasty replacement for bacon. :)
A fresh crisp morning in the middle of the woods. A cold beer.
Some fresh caught salmon, some eggs and the smell of sizzling bacon.
@gailcalled – well, it’s the cells of the orange, the things they usually straing out of the juices that you buy at the store. :)
@ChazMaz – i have to agree on the fresh crisp woodsie air!!
@NaturallyMe: Do you mean the pulp (which is the solid part of the fruit)? (strain)
@gailcalled – yes! Haha, i couldn’t think of the word pulp…sheesh….
A Denver omelet with country potatoes and biscuit and gravy, and a glass of OJ and cup of coffee from Knotty Pine Café in Bakersfield. Seriously the best place to get breakfast in town.
Bacon, home fries, toast or English muffins. Everything but the eggs – I don’t eat ‘em.
Or in a more continental mood, croissant and baguette, sweet butter, fresh berries and cafe au lait.
Scrambled eggs, not too firm and definitely not microwaved, mixed with strips of smoked salmon and served on toasted wholemeal bread. It’s my favourite “special occasion” breakfast, and is something my household traditionally has on Christmas Day.
Pancakes, eggs over easy, hash browns with a crispy top, and two pieces of buttered toast. I love breakfast food.
i think @chazmaz could be a drunk bear…..fresh caught salmon and beer??
me, there is a restaurant Wild Eggs, surfer girl omelette, sprouts, avocado, salsa
their potatoes and muffin…....
Shredded wheat minis with banana
Almost anything my wife and I prepare and enjoy together. I used to be more of a gastronome until I discovered how wonderful love makes any food taste.
The one I had this morning was fantastic.
Shakshuka. I have posted my recipe here somewhere. PM me if you want it, jellies.
Related to this subject…kind of. My grandfather lived to be 97 (he would have lived to be over 100 if he had not fallen and causing a compound fracture that lead to a heart attack…his mind was super at 97 and physically in great shape), but..but, grandmother cooked eggs, bacon, sausage, gravy, etc. every morning. Today, most nutrionist would not advise these kind of meals, as we all know. So, it is in the genes, in my humble opinion!
@janbb – oh yes, warm fresh bran muffins, or blueberry muffins with melting butter on it is one of my favourites too! I told ya i was forgetting something…. :D
@downtide – .....who microwaves their scrambled eggs anyway???!!! First time i hear of this…
@Dr_Lawrence – awwww! :D
Just as you’ve described with a few crusty sausage links added. The toast must be sourdough, real butter and some homemade jam.
@BoBo1946 Cracker Barrel has my favorite breakfast. Pancakes with blackberries and whipped topping, tons of maple syrup, and a side of sausage links. To die for! Love the biscuits and gravy too,
They all sound delicious!!!
1 qt whole milk; 1 qt Minute Maid OJ
2 xl eggs over medium
4 sausage links, brown n greasy; some bacon halfway crisp
4 slices buttered whole wheat toast, sliced in two
Home canned apricot preserves
Shredded fresh potatoes, fried in grease with lots of chopped onions
salt and pepper
@Aster – you sure have some appetite!!!! :D
@NaturallyMe Well, to be honest, I probably wouldn’t be able to finish all the milk. (-;
@NaturallyMe my in-laws do their scrambled eggs in the microwave. :-x
@jonsblond can truly say, i’ve never gotten a bad meal at CB! And, i’m going to try your meal next time!
