Do you believe in reincarnation?

Asked by ShanEnri (4429points) July 9th, 2010

I ask because I’m always having memories that I find out aren’t real. To explain, I remember things from my childhood, particular places or houses and when I ask my siblings they have no memory of it. Could be they just don’t remember or maybe it is something deeper. Could I be remembering something from a past life? I’ve never given much thought to reincarnation, but lately I’ve been thinking on it a lot. What’s your take on it?

I think so. I have an open mind about it. And there are some stories about hypnotizing and past life experiences being recalled. I have no personal experience with it, yet.

I believe in it. Don’t really know what to say beyond that, really.

I don’t. It’s an interesting concept though.

You might want to ask your parents about these memories instead of siblings. I’ve recalled images and experiences from early youth that my sister, who is 6 years older than me, doesn’t, yet have been confirmed by Mom.

I’ve never had an experience that felt like something from a past life and don’t believe in reincarnation. What is stored in DNA and the mind is a fascinating feature of nature.

According to my religious beliefs, I don’t believe in reincarnation. But, I do believe in having the spirit of a past life (the life of another person, not mine) carry over to the present. Sometimes I’ve felt the presence of another’s spirit, and I’ve been able to connect and experience internally the memories of the other.

I’m not sure what I believe in regards to what happens to us after we die. I have a strong feeling that there has to be something else after this though. I have always been fascinated with the idea of reincarnation.

No.

The brain is an organic computer. If you smash your computer, the data and programs in the computer doesn’t get transferred to a new computer being built.

I absolutely love the idea of it.
But I don’t believe it for a second.

I don’t believe in a “spirit” in any sense of the word, nor do I believe in the supernatural.

You could be remembering stories you were told by other people, or things you saw on TV, or books you read.

@Pied_Pfeffer My biological parents have passed and did ask my mom about one in particular, but she said she didn’t remember that particular memory of mine!

@Sarcasm I have thought about this and it could be just that!

Thanks everyone for your responses!
