What about a short film you saw made it memorable?

Asked by 6rant6 (13710points) July 9th, 2010

I’m in a contest to make a short film, and I was wondering what the fluthratti remember from short films they’ve seen.

If you can recall a short film that stuck with you, what element(s) made it stand out? Strong emotion? Twist ending, clever premise, unusual visual effect? Memorable character, sparkling dialogue, lack of dialogue?

What made it a winner in your mind?

Not what you think. :-)

It was just plain funny, and my friend Carol Mansell is in it.

La Jetée (Chris Marker, 1962) stuck out to me because of its mode of production; it’s basically a series of photographs and a voice over. This short was one of the bases for the 1995 Gilliam movie Twelve Monkeys.

@6rant6: What’s the time frame?” Short” means many things.

I saw the animation “How a Frog Sees” years ago and it stuck with me.
Supposedly frogs only see change. When it is hopping the field of vision is very busy. When the frog stops the background fades away. When a fly comes into view it stands out clearly. As does the flying tongue of the frog. Then everything fades back to white until the next movement. Very cool.
