Check with state laws of where you will be going before setting off to hitchhike. In most states, it is illegal and you could end up in some trouble.
If you don’t care about that, I would say to be careful of who you get in the car with and be sure someone knows where you are and where you are headed in case something happens.
@Seaofclouds said it all.
My area is really strict on prosecuting hitchhikers.
I think they’re still worried about another Aileen Wuornos
thanks yall…
i am also looking into ride share…but i think the prospect of relinquishing my safety to the will of spirit (of course while maintaining my common sense) would be a great experience
I would buy a taser or a knife. There are freaks out there.
I picked a hitchers a couple of times. No tasing needed for me. :)
Well, common sense includes not getting in cars with strangers willing to pull over and pick up strangers.
Just sayin’.
@sunyata_rakshasa It’s arguable that the act of “relinquishing your safety to the will of spirit” is mutually exclusive of “maintaining your common sense.”
