How can I get myself to just get off my lazy butt and fluther?

Asked by Arp (3521points) July 12th, 2010

I know that doesn’t make much sense, but what I am saying is that I do not have the enthusiasm I once had to fluther. Not because it isn’t fun, but because I have so many other things I like to do MORE (like the fluther chat, for example). Many people newer than me have surpassed me by several thousand lurve in the past few months, and I really want to get back on my feet with actually using the site, even if I don’t always want to.
In case you didn’t notice, this post is not only about fluther, as it applies to other, less fun area of my life (i.e. School). Any suggestions to help me stay focused (on not staying focused?) :P

You sound hopeless. What is wrong with you? Why can’t you just accept that the choices you actually make are the best indicators of what you truly want to do. You let all these shoulds and oughts dominate you, and of course it makes you crazy.

Don’t call yourself a lazy butthead. Call yourself a fluther chat maven. FCM. I wonder how many other FCMs are out there.

Well.. You are a lazy butthead.
Don’t even make me start listing things, lil’ bro..

But don’t answer questions unless you want to, or at least have a helpful answer.
Don’t Fluther because you feel you have to.
Especially since school is starting again soon. Focus on your academics rather than us.
Lurve isn’t important anyway. It’s how you answer that’s important.

As for how to stay focused… just think of me and my .882 GPA.
Don’t be like me.
But at the same time, if you ever need to vent your stress or need someone to yell at you, I’m here, kid.

Strange, I have always thought that Fluthering was being on my lazy butt.

@Arp Fluthering does not necessarily get you off your lazy butt. And competing for Fluther-lurve is not necessarily a meaningful goal.

If I am not mistaken, your parents and maybe a sibling are also on Fluther. Maybe you just want a little privacy now.

More to the point why don’t you get off your lazy butt and become more active in schoolwork, activities and social life that really engage you? Are you going through a teenage-angst thing or is something bothering you that you don’t want to look at? Do whatever stimulating thing that engages you the most right now and the rest should follow.

If it is not fun, don’t do it. There are plenty of things to do away from this site.

What a bizarre turn of affairs! I am always excoriating myself for being on Fluther.

Looks up excoriating… verb: to masturbate

I think you’ve taken a step in the right direction.

I’ve been the same lately. The chat room has been the most fun. I think it’s fine we have more fun in chat than answering questions.

The first step is admitting you have a problem….
