Are there any songs that make you glad you don't have the name of something that's mentioned in the song?
Like, “Carolina.” .... “Nothing would be finer…” :)

Glad my name isn’t Roxanne or Lola.
@janbb My, my, my, my, my!! Good job you guys! I really couldn’t think of any other songs! And, actually, I know of three songs with the name “Valerie” in them, and I don’t mind them…
I always wanted a song with my name in it. Last year She Wants Revenge finally made one. No I won’t say what it is. It’s not a popular song.
I had a best friend named Cecilia for many years and I drove her crazy singing S&G to her. Good times.
@tinyfaery I thought that was “Tiny Dancer” by Elton John….:)
My name is in three songs that I know of… “Jessie” by Joshua Kadison (which I like), “Jessie’s Girl” by Rick Springfield, and I’m mentioned in “Mambo #5” by Lou Bega.
@poofandmook There’s also Janis Ian’s song “Jessie Come Home” which makes me bawl every time I hear it, but i think that’s to a guy. (But maybe not.)
There was a song written with my name in it. It’s rather nice, though.
“Tiny Dancer” was a moniker given to me by a boyfriend in high school. That was okay, too.
But…the one I never liked (for obvious reasons) was “Short People.” Yes, I got teased unmercifully with that one. It’s not exactly something you can hide. :)
I’m suppose I’m glad I’m not named stella…
“Stella Was a Diver and She was Always Down” by Interpol.
my apologies if you are named stella…it’s not a popular song…promise
@janbb….LOL….I just bring a stepstool. I’m thoughtful like that…!
Beth by KISS is my song. I love it and I’m glad that someone wrote a song about a girl with such a boring name. I don’t know any other Beth songs other than I heard once that the first song Elvis Costello wrote when he was a kid was called Beth Ann, which is my name, and I’ve always wished I could hear that song.
@Dutchess_III: I saw “Valerie” performed live by Steve Winwood. AWESOMENESS.
I am glad i am a boy and that my name isn’t Sue.
Oh, gosh… Song lyrics do have a tendency to become nicknames, don’t they?
Jeremiah (was a bullfrog) – a cousin of mine.
Faith (no more) – a lady I used to work with.
Tommy (can you hear me?) – too many people.
Alyson (my aim is true) – Me.
(hey) Mickey (you’re so fine) – friend from fifth grade.
@poofandmook Which one? The one the Monkees sang? “I love her
Vaaa aaaaa aaaal erie…”?
My neice has a friend named Crystal Blue. Everyone calls her Crystal Blue Persuasion.
I know, but my name is spelled “Alyson”, and it’s my name we’re talking about. Actually, I was named after that song.
Miss Otis, Lulu, Lydia (the tattooed lady), Misty, Madame Arthur, Louise ( of whom every little breeze whispers), Gigi, Mariah, Charmaine, Carmen, Papageno, Mimi, (mi chiamo), Mary Ann (Harry Belafonte).
(My daughter is Alison.)
I’ve never heard of a song with my name in it so I googled and I found one by Radiohead. It’s about someone committing suicide and it’s not very flattering.
@downtide
Sucks, doesn’t it? The one I was named after is about murdering a prostitute.
There’s also Annihilator’s “Alison Hell” – about a girl trapped in a basement by a lunatic. Whee!
Come On Eileen! by Dexy’s Midnight Runners
This one drove my friend Eileen crazy! (not literally) check out the funny 80’s video. Who knows of another 80’s pop band with a violin, banjo and accordian?!

@Earthgirl That was one of my favourite songs of the 80s.
downtide The video is great, I had never seen it until now!
