I’m 18 years old, and A few months ago I was caught shoplifting from walmart in Georgia, it was my first and last time I’ve done it. Its extremely embarrassing to even think about it, but the guy who caught me told me he wouldn’t call the police and that it would only stay in walmart’s system. Now I need to find a job and my friends are telling me that it will show up on my background checks, and that would prevent people from hiring me. Another friend told me that after 5 years it’ll go away. Will it show up on my background check, is there anyway i can remove it from my record?

no! they didn’t file a police report so that’s the end of it . don’t worry. it won’t show up anywhere
Well I wouldn’t apply at the WalMart for a job. But no police report means that there is not way to access it in a background check.
Seriously? I mean the guy took a lot of my information and put it in their system what if it comes up somewhere and what if my parents find out..They’ll be dissapointed in me…not as dissapointed as i am in myself.
stop worrying. walmart. that’ll info will go away. nobody’s going to find out, that guy did you a big favour, now quit tripping about it. when i was homeless, this happened to me too, big deal. they tell you that to scare you. you’ve been punished, now go out and enjoy life, don’t worry about it anymore
lol, thanks sleepdoc, thanks trailsillustated, you dont know how relieved i am to know that.
forgive yourself. its a learning experience
You will be on Walmarts black list. Pretty much it.
If there was no charge or conviction it will not appear on a normal background check. If I were you I would not apply for a job at Walmart, Sams Club, or any other Walmart-affiliated company.
If the police were not called and no police report made or you were not physically arrested, you are home free. only WalMart will have this information.
Apply for a job anywhere, except WalMart. they will know.
