Is there a song that you never get tired of?
Usually, most people like a song, listen to it a dozen times (for me a hundred) and move on.
But is there a specific song that you just cannot get over?
Why? Is it because of the lyrics, rhythm, beat, instruments, whatever?

Deftones featuring Maynard – Passenger
Yann Tiersen – Esther
Trespassers William – Different Stars
Pearl Jam – Black and Indifference
Nigel Kennedy -Solitude
I couldn’t tell you why, exactly, other than they all just speak to and resonate within me.
Old Time Rock and Roll by Bob Seger. Just a fun song, catchy rhythm and makes me think of my teen years.
Yep. Bloc Party – Compliments
I never get tired of it because it always puts me in a peaceful, stress-free mood.
according to last.fm: The Shins – New Slang
Then a lot of Bon Iver and Rufus Wainwright (in particular Gay Messiah – i love it) They remind me of good times and late nights. I think songs that stick with you often have memories attatched, similar to scents. I’m sure it’s something to do with the brain. I really enjoy soundtracks too. I’m not sure of the musical ins and outs of why I like all these tracks but it’s more the way they make me feel.
Man From Manhattan – Eddie Howell (& Queen)
Brian May’s guitar and the close harmony singing i think are great, as they are in most of Queen’s songs.
Desolation Row by Bob Dylan. The imagery is so powerful and entertaining at the same time that I always, always enjoy it.
@DrasticDreamer
When I was in 8th grade, my english teacher would play a bunch of Pearl Jam songs while we were working and Black & Indifference was one of them. Totally forgot about it until you mentioned it :]
@ninahenry
You have a good point, many of the songs that I love all have some type of memory that I attribute to it.
@Mamradpivo I really like sign on the window by Bob Dylan.
@pitchtheview Those are actually two songs “Black” and “Indifference” – sorry, my fault. :)
I’d also like to add “As Tears Go By” by the Rolling Stones. God, I hate these questions. I feel like creating an entire list of songs now… But I won’t! :)
The Whole of the Moon The Waterboys
The lyrics, the voice, the rhythm, the music, everything… perfect.
@DrasticDreamer
Well, now I feel stupid. Hahaha. But I do remember my teacher playing Pearl Jam songs. :]
I have many songs that I love and I cycle through them. The older they are the more they become kind of like friends: I miss them when I haven’t heard from them in a while.
@pitchtheview Nah, don’t worry about it. :) Especially if you weren’t old enough to remember any Pearl Jam songs on your own – not your fault.
No. Too much of anything is too much.
“I’ve got you under my skin” by Frank Sinatra. I’ve loved it for since I was 15.
“Mr Bojangles” and “Brown-Eyed Girl”
Great to see there are at least two other Sinatra fans.
Yes, anything by Passion Pit.
@Samantha_Rae As a DMB fan you automatically get into my fluther. That and your kitty kinda looks like one of mine.
There are so many songs that fit this category. To name a few:
The Queen is Dead The Smiths
One Sweet World DMB
Rain King Counting Crows
Wave of Mutilation (UK Surf Mix) The Pixies
Dancing Queen Abba
I’d also have to say The Return to Innocence by Enigma and Electric Feel by MGMT
Daft Punk – Voyager.
Al-Pha-X – Solar Ascension
“Goodbye Joe, me gotta go, me oh my oh. Me gotta go pole the pirogue down the bayou…”
I do, but it changes over time. Right now it’s A Thousand Miles by Summer Channel.
Beyond Belief – Elvis Costello
In my head, this song is a big scene in the Imperial Bedroom movie that is in my head. Imperial Bedroom is the name of the Elvis Costello album where this song can be found.
Radio Free Europe (Hib-Tone single) and West of The Fields – R.E.M.
I don’t know. I think it represents a period of growth for me, musically. After that, I wasn’t as much of a pop/top 40 music fan as I was before. Those two songs have always been the standouts on Murmur for me. That whole album is brilliant.
The Abbey Road medley on side 2. Damn. I can hear John and Paul going in different directions, and yet, together it all works. It’s fascinating to listen to.
the song that never ends…........it just goes on and on my friends…..ok if your from my generation or the parent of someone frommy generation you’ll know where this is going lol
Exile “Kiss you all over”.
When I’m 64 by The Beatles (Note: in this version, Julian Lennon is subbing for his dad.)
Why this one? I first heard it in the early 70’s, it’s always brought a bit of cheer no matter how many times I hear it. Hopeful lyrics, peppy tune. And now, this American is engaged to a British bloke who knows more Beatles trivia than most people. How spooky is that?

@Aster lurve for Buffett. His storytelling style is great.
Another one is “Radar Love” by Golden Earring. Listening to it now on Music Choice (cable)
@Yetanotheruser Thanks and funny handle! I read his book, “A Pirate Looks at Fifty.” It was ok. Not that great.
@Aster my son thought the handle had something to do with drugs; it doesn’t! LOL
I could really relate the song “A Pirate Looks at Forty”, even before I was approaching that age.
I liked his kids book “Jolly Mon”.
@chyna lurve for “Old Time Rock and Roll!” When my parents celebrated their 50th in 1985, all seven of us siblings (ranging in age from 26 to 49) were up dancing and singing to that song. It became our unofficial family anthem from then on.
Mr Jones by the Counting Crows. I love the entire album but this song in particular always makes me feel good inside.
@Maria – How many crows are there?
Ruby Tuesday – Rolling Stones
More than words because it’s more than words :)
Fairest Lord Jesus….it has such beautiful lyrics.
Fair are the meadows, fairer still the woodlands,
robed in the blooming garb of spring:
Jesus is fairer, Jesus is purer
who makes the woeful heart to sing.
Fair is the sunshine, fairer still the moonlight,
and all the twinkling starry host:
Jesus shines brighter, Jesus shines purer
than all the angels heaven can boast.
