What is the nicest sounding language in the world?

It isn’t German.

I vote Portuguese! It’s like warm butter.

Depends on who’s speaking and how and what they’re saying. I prefer Italian to Spanish, and French often make an art of their pronunciation. I’ve heard German sound beautiful. If I have to choose, I’m thinking whalesong.

I’d vote for Italian. It’s very musical and so many of the words end in vowels- things just flow together nicely.

Portuguese prolly the most unique, to me at least… Sometimes it sounds like Spanish, sometimes Italian, sometimes even an English tinge comes through (btw, if you love portuguese you should listen to Marisa Monce…beautiful)

Arabic is beautiful its just sad that most people have only heard it from disgruntled extremists usually yelling angrily.. tsk tsk tsk

The romance languages (Spanish, Italian, French, just to name a few) all flow very beautifully when spoken by a native speaker or a very talented learner.

Finnish is one of the most beautiful languages in the world due to its naturally low usage of hard consonants.

Also, Icelandic is very beautiful to me.

English, when flavored by a foreign speaker whose native language is something like French, Portuguese, Spanish.

In English: My pencil is large.
In French: Mon crayon est grand.
In Spanish: Mi lápiz es grande.

and then there’s the German: Mein Bleistift ist groß (pronouced “gross”).

2 years ago I heard the nicest languages of all: the zoulou from South Africa. It spoken in the Lion King musical.As a French I do quite like southern American accent it always put a smile on my face.

Shouldn’t this be “what language do you find beautiful” cuz I’d have to say that every language can be beautiful. It really depends on what ear is hearing it.
That said, as a euro-portuguese speaker, I have to say that I’ve always though it sounds like static (shhhh shhh shhh shh shhh). So my question to those of you who have said “Portuguese” could you make a distinction between euro or brazilian Portuguese?

I’ve always loved the consistency and smooth sound of soft spoken Japanese.

I’d also like to make a case for American Sign Language. Close your eyes and it sounds like umm…well Silence, and that is pretty nice sounding if you ask me.

Apparently in the Canary islands there is a whistling language. People communicate via different toned whistle noises. I’ve never heard it but I imagine it’s quite beautiful.

I don’t know why they are still calling Silo Gomero a language. From my understanding, it is a way of whistling Spanish. That would make it a code, no? Not a language?
