If you could engineer a drug, what would you have it do?

Make all my other prescription drugs unnecessary !!!

It would have to be controlled. No side-effects. Double-blind long -term studies. RX from Doc.

Mine would cure cancers without the horrible chemical side effects of chemotherapy. It would be a prescription drug.

For personal use (which is what I thought you meant) it would be called a “juvi.” It would be taken 1x day. After taking your Juvi you would feel , mentally and physically, as you or as a healthy child feels at age nine: carefree, energetic, positive, sociable, fun-seeking and ready to fall asleep in one minute.

It would not be a drug, but a solution of self replicating medical nanomachines that would serve a number of functions.

—- new features, such as photosynthesis, solar electric power generation, zero point energy generating cell organelles, digital memorybanks consciously accessible by the mind, auxilliary processors to speed up thinking, active zoom for the eye, full EM spectrum range for the eye with sound source overlay and overlay of other data, like the medical, chemical and physical status of the object you are looking at and environmental variables fed from a new sensor array, full 3 dimensional awareness, even beyond and inside obstacles, technology based telepathy, epidermal forcefields, full replacements of lost limbs and organs within a few minutes, including vital organs like hearts, lungs, the brain, etc., a bodywide redundant backup system for the brain’s memory

Well, there are tons of things I’d l;ove to cure, but previous posters have pretty well covered those, so I am going for a ultimate pleasure pill.

Before defining it, let me disclaim any first-hand knowledge of what any illegal drug I list actually does. So the following is just a flight of fantasy and may be wildly off base when compared to what each of my elements in the drug-cocktail actually do. But here goes.

Mix the psychedelic experience of LSD; the sensory enhancement of Extasy; the exhilaration of cocaine; the blissful suspension of worry and pain of opium; the sexual stimulation of the new prescription drug in clinical trials, flibanserin, the erectile enhancement of Calais and the inhibition suppression of Quaaludes. And if I succeeded in getting all that to work, I would be absolutely terrified to take a dose, because I’d want to spend the rest of my life the mindscape it would induce. :-).

I want to make quaaludes again…...bring em back!!

@uberbatman I have not either, but I mean long-term side effects, I have only heard it does unfavorable things to your brain.

It’s sounds pretty sad, but I think I will never experience such pure elation sober. Only MDMA has made me feel so ‘one’ with the world and people lol.

It would, in a nano second, pull that one word/answer from my gray matter that i am looking for when in a conversation, doing a puzzle, join in a tv quiz, write something on Fluther.
I know i know it, why can’t i reach it…?

It would make people wiser so they would be able to solve issues the way I want them to.

A drug that would speed up your metabolism to the point where you could eat whatever you wanted and not gain weight without exercise or diet. Kind of like the thin person that could eat anything they want like a glutton and not gain any weight. There are no diet pills I am aware of that come close to doing any of this and most of them have side effects.

I would like a substance that would stimulate people to always act in their own best interest.

@boffin Here’s the formula for your wonder drug. Mis two parts hydrogen with one part oxygen. It is good for you and has none of the side effects you wish to avoid. :-)

I’d like a pill that would stop all bladder urges from 9pm to 7am.
