Do you use anything that you call "magic"?

All of the things you mentioned are easily explained, hence, they are not magic.

My wife has magic powers. She always knows exactly what I want/need even before I do. And somehow she can always fit way more dishes in the dishwasher than anyone else who tries. She is my magic.

I think we can all agree the GPS system works by magic. You don’t seriously expect me to believe that this little $200 unit in my hand is listening to 5 satellites going 18,000 mph in different orbits and it is able to calculate my location to within a couple of feet based upon the time difference between the received signals, do you? Oh, come on. .
Magic is a much better explanation.

My paycheck magically disappears every 2 weeks. I am desperately trying to make it stop doing that…no luck so far!

we used to have what I called the magic refrigerator. You could literally keep milk a month and it wouldn’t go bad, yet it wasn’t cold enough to freeze things. It froze lettuce if you kept it in the cooler drawer, but that’s about it.

Alcohol certainly does magical things to my brain. I cannot explain…it just does…and I like it!

I mean those satellites are going 18,000 MPH! They are 700 miles away! And my receiver operates for a week on 2 AA batteries! How can that work? ;-)

@worriedguy – Nothing amazing there. You would be surprised what you can get a couple of gerbils to do.

Did no one ever think something and then have it happen? Did you not feel the smallest urge to wonder if there was a causal link between your thought and the happening? Did you never try to see if you could influence events with your thoughts? Not even, say, in trying to get healthy after some illness or injury?

@wundayatta I’m just kidding. Once, before I joined the Navy, I had a dream I was in the navy, and I think my dream happened exactly in reality a year or so after I joined. I think I even remembered what some guy was going to say at one point. But I feel it was not magic and just me convincing myself that it was something ‘unexplainable’.

If you use your brain every waking hour, be it in daydreaming or focused on some activity, and none of your millions of thoughts ever came to fruition or were never repeated in real life. That would be magic.

@ChazMaz You’ve answered the question. Sort of. You weren’t really talking about yourself, though, which is what I’m interested in. I assume that the answer is that you have never, ever used something you call “magic” in your life. That’s cool.

This question is not about the reality anyone seeks to impose on everyone else. The issue of whether people think magic is real or not is off-topic. This question is about people’s perceptions of their own reality. I’m looking for stories about circumstances in which people have employed mechanisms that they call “magic.”

The chemical reactions that take place with a living cell. The Krebs Cycle, the hundreds of complex hormone interactions, acid base and electrolyte balance, protein and DNA synthesis, nerves and brain and all the other organs of the body function etc…etc. What controls all of these vast complexes that are required for life to exist? Some people may call it God but it seems like magic to me.

With in every person, there is the ability to make majic! Not, the “rabbit it the hat” trick, but a person’s ability to make something good happen in their life. We see it all the time….a person has a vision and they turn it into reality. I’m sure Donald Trump could tell us all a thing or two about majic! Trump had a vision and he produced majic!

Also, two people falling in love is a form of majic. The butterflies a person feel in their stomach when they look at a person in the beginning of a relationship. The secret is to keep that majic happening everyday….not just in the beginning of a relationship, but forever. Came across this quote….thought it was applicable!

I wouldn’t necessarily class it as magic, but nearer to miraculous, the fact that I am alive at all today. After all, it was necessary for each of my great grandmothers to meet my great grandfathers, and then for both my sets of grandparents to meet, and then after all that, for my parents to meet. What were the chances of that happening?

I use magic all the time, it just takes forever to earn the AP to level up the materia but its very helpful.

This may be way off base from what you are asking. As a child, I used to have a re-occurring dream about attempting to locate my parents at the opposite end of an outdoor pool. It was no ordinary pool…it consisted of connected squares and rectangles of different shapes, sizes and depths. Then the dreams stopped.

About 8 years ago, a co-worker came into a meeting and handed me a brochure of one of our company’s hotels that we had just taken over. On the front of the brochure was a picture similar to this. (You may need to click on “Leisure Facilities” and go to photo 17.)

Most magical things can be explained. This one still alludes me.
