What is your fashion faux pas?

You know it’s wrong, but you wear it anyway.
Mine is sandals and socks. The fashion police will come thru the door at any time, but I like wearing sandals, but my toenails are terribly ingrown.

Not caring about fashion at all.
I tend to dress casually all the time.
I kind of don’t care, never have, unless it’s for something very special, I just dress the way I want to dress, even if it’s not in style, even if it’s out dated, and even if it’s not what other people would be wearing…
I used to wear red lipstick a lot though in highschool…. I thought it looked good because I was in the whole “Dita Von Teese”...I stood out and got alot of compliments, but I know I also got people who questioned it….like “why does that girl always have red lipstick on?”...
One Faux Pas i never liked was mullets though… or big shoulder pads from the 80’s….......
After 9:30 at night, I’ll wear my pj’s to the grocery store. Sometimes, they have stains on them. I don’t care.
My bra straps always show. I really don’t care.
@casheroo OOOhhhh I do that too! Course, I thought when I was younger that it wasn’t so much a faux pas as the hip thing to do…
I haven’t actually worn real clothes since I got laid off in March. Shorts, tshirt and no bra.
I wear old shoes too often, which probably should be thrown out.
I only have two pairs of earrings that I wear? I try not to make any.
I wear Crocs. But they’re Disney Crocs so it’s not as bad.
Pink polo shirts, tank tops, really brightly-colored shirts and shorts, bright orange Vans, etc. I like goofy flamboyant clothes sometimes. :)
Sometimes I like to put my long hair in pigtails. I’m almost 40.
I am totally clueless when it comes to fashion. I see nothing wrong with socks and sandals, and I think fashion rules are nonsense.
@jonsblond I do two braids, pocohantas style. Never too old for fun hair styles! lol
@casheroo and @JLeslie I feel better now. It’s the perfect hairstyle for a hot day. :)
@jonsblond I wear pigtails too. I wear them at the nape of my neck instead of on top to get the sultry, playful, mature look instead of the playground look.
What is this “fashion” of which you speak?
I chop up boys’ heavy metal band t-shirts to make them more girly, and never wear bras (they’re goddamn uncomfortable, and they just don’t make bras that fit my shape. Sue me.). 90% of my clothes are homemade or have some sort of self-alteration done to them.
I’ll get back to you on crazy haircolor when I get it done. I’m going red in an epic way.
I wear my slippers even at the grocery store, the post office or the bank in my small town, when I don;t have to do much walking.
My Bettie Page bangs. I’ve had all lengths of hair but when I try to alter the bangs then friends, acquaintances and co workers balk so I guess they’re here to stay until I’m too wrinkled up to be “cute” and then I’ll switch to a severe Diana Vanderbilt do.
I walk around in oversized clothes because of the weight I’ve lost and I don’t have enough money for new clothes.
Checkered shirt with striped shoes and nothing in between. Oh, and my bra straps always show.
wearing clothes years old… and sweatpants that are either too short or oversized… being 6’5” 275lbs. its hard to find good clothes off the rack
Wearing work out clothes “out”. Isn’t that wrong? Going to get groceries after the gym? I feel like a slob.
@Neizvestnaya….....Bravo! I like your style!
Mine is that I don’t wear trousers. I don’t own one (not one) pair of trousers/jeans/shorts nothing. I just don’t wear them. I know that’s strange, but I have never felt comfortable in trousers.
My second faux pas:
Cowboy boots. I bought a pair at a vintage clothing market and just fell in love with how comfortable they were. Even though I grew up in a cowboy state, I never, ever wore them. I was too busy being “hip”. Now, I just love them! I moved to England and I wear them….all the time. With skirts. And with dresses. And with my pearls and my Hattie Carnegie earrings. I just don’t give a hoot! I just like being comfortable. I have a pair of old Ropers, a worn pair of Durangos and a bright red fancy stitched one. I think I have about six pairs now. I think that (subconsciously) it’s my way of connecting and identifying with my home….‘cause I do get homesick.
I refuse to wear shoes that hurt my feet. No matter how cute they are, if they aren’t comfortable, I will never, ever, ever wear them and they will simply gather dust in my closet.
Course, I don’t know if anyone besides my mother actually considers that a faux pas.
i just wear what i want to wear. it doesn’t matter if my outfits match, as long as i like it.
I rock my Birkenstock clogs with no shame (I know they’re gross and ugly) I’m also quite a fan of those Adidas sandals that soccer players wear – I call them ‘soccer slides’ and absolutely love to wear them with socks. I have people who care about me (and fashion) threaten to steal all my footwear often
