Who is your favorite celebrity (past or present) and why?
Just curious. Mine would have to be Joni Mitchell, the folk singer, because even though she was popular in the 70’s, 20 years before I was born, I can still relate to her songs.

Sinatra. His songs, especially from the ‘50s, still speak to me.
Elvis Presley. What he did back then was unprecedented, and ever since it is…
Mark Twain! Smart, funny, progressive, bold, unapologetic and entertaining.
@localjoke I love that you picked someone who is not big today. It’s sad to me when people don’t know culture beyond what they see on TV. I shall listen to Court and Spark today in gratitude to you and Joni!
Michael Palin. Such a sweetheart. A fantastic writer in various disciplines, a hilarious and fearless performer (yes, he’ll go wherever the part requires – get a copy of GBH), an open-minded and unpretentious person despite the Old Boy upbringing, and the best unofficial ambassador England has possibly ever had. And he was hot.
I realize he’s just a guy and I’m sure his wife and others see the other sides of him, but he seems like a Grade A keeper to me. Any dude that a curmudgeon like John Cleese still has a crush on after almost 45 years? That’s your guy, people.
I think the vast majority of female Python fans pick Michael as their fave, too. Eric Idle was very pretty once upon a time, yes, but Michael’s the all-rounder!
Elvis. He was one of a kind and the most handsome man I’ve ever laid eyes on.
Charlton Heston, because he’s the fucking Omega Man.
Charlton Heston, because he’s the fucking Omega Man.
I had to say it again. :-)
Mark Twain as @jaytkay said and for similar reasons. He did not tolerate fools easily and had a keen understanding of people and their foibles.
John Wayne. he is a mans…...man.
I’ve taken to not admiring celebrities very much. You have to separate the work from the individual. You don’t know him or her at all, as much as you might feel like you do.
I don’t really have a favorite. There is one actor/comedian that I really miss though. Phil Hartman. I think he was a comedic genius that was taken from us too soon.
David Duchovny. Hes the sexiest man that I’ve ever seen.. Not to mention the sexiness mixed with the geekiness of the X-Files blows my mind.
I really like Hugh Laurie mostly because I love House.
@Simone_De_Beauvoir – He’s 180 degrees different in A Bit of Fry and Laurie, Jeeves & Wooster and series 2 (he’s on the last episode), 3 and 4 of Black Adder. So funny. And so very British.
I don’t really have one favourite, but i like Jim Carrey. Because he’s funny and cute and tall. :)
Scarlett Johansson, hands down.
Barbra Streisand, I’ve been a fan of her work for as long as I can remember and it was a dream come true when I finally got to see her live in concert a few years ago.
@aprilsimnel I love Michael Palin, he’s definately my favourite Python. His travel programmes are my comfort blanket when I am feeling a bit down in the dumps. They’re an instant mood lifter for me.
