How can i block a phone number from being received by my land line phone?

Asked by jca (36062points) July 25th, 2010

someone i know has been calling me on my land line phone and i want to ensure that he is not able to call me any longer (i have discussed with him that i am not receptive to his phone calls but i want to prevent the possibility of him deciding to start some late night or early morning harassment). how can i block his number from being received by my land line phone?

Check with the phone company and see if they have that as a service you can get. If not, I don’t think there’s much you can do.

you have to have the service form you provider and they can tell you or look on your bill. then search the service on their site to see what to do.

If you can set individual ring tones for people then you can find a silent ring and you won’t hear it. A close second would be setting something only for this person and just knowing that you won’t answer it.

Have someone tell him, or let him find information that would lead him to believe that you changed your phone number. Or you could have a friend answer your phone and tell that someone that they have the wrong number.

I had to change my number, in Alberta, Canada. But I like the new one so much better!

I’ve never had much luck with my service provider’s call blocking service. I believe there are digital answer machines that can be programmed to block numbers.

Yes, if you subscribe to your local service provider’s Call Block feature.

Some telco’s offer a feature whereby you can reject incoming calls from an individual phone number.

AT&T used to and might still call it Call Rejection.

Unplug it when you go to sleep.

[ if it’s something urgent i’m sure people can reach you via your mobile ]
