Vat back on amazon marketplace goods?

can a business claim back VAT from a transaction on amazon marketplace…..

provided the transaction is in the same country ie bought in uk from amazon marketplace uk…

irregardless whether the seller is a business or private individual (or do you need to register in some way anyway to sell on amazon?)..

Amazon UK has a page on the subject.

The best thing to do would be to contact the seller. If they are VAT registered, then they should be able to issue you with a VAT receipt (in fact, I’m pretty sure that they __have__ to). If they’re not VAT registered then you can’t claim anything back, as VAT wasn’t charged.
