When choosing subscribe, it asks for a URL but doesn’t like non http links. Any ideas?

Presumably whatever the folder share is on can run a simple http server – if it is a Mac it has one built in for example. Could you not simply start the web server on that machine and get it via http. Or, set up some kind of batch process (e.g. an automator script) to copy the ics file to your local machine and start up the web services on your mac and get it that way. Given that you are using iCal and not suggesting using CalDAV, you can only publish or subscribe – so you could even ‘publish’ your calendar to your local web server and then have your batch process copy the ics file periodically to your folder share.
Yeah, the issue is that I don’t have ownership of the server and can’t run IIS (it’s a W2k3 server). Good food for thought though, thanks.
