I cannot back up my ipod touch?

Both of my iPod touch 3rd gen and iPhone 3gs cannot back up on iTunes.
Both running newest OS (4.0.x) and iTunes are newest version as well. whenever I plug in the device it gives me the messages says “iTunes could not back up the iPod because the backup session failed”
Fortunately everything works fine but it is really annoying and want to fix the problem!
Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Perhaps a driver is needed or a patch so that the latest OS can see the older ipod/iphone. Have you tried the apple website? I’m sure it’s an easy fix.

Sorry, just a stab in the dark….Are you sure there is enough room on your computer’s hard drive?
If indeed there is, then I would personally just reinstall your iTunes software.

I just fix the problem…it was new iTunes glitch
all I need to do was fix the time zone…weird but it worked
