You are trapped on an island and all of your nutritional needs are met. A genie tells you that he will give you three things. One book, movie, video game or Cd of your choice. You can pick one of each, of three of the four categories. e.g. One specific book, one specific video game, and one specific Cd.
Which three would you choose?

One Book: Bible, it will reminds me that I’m not alone, God is with me.
One Movie: Pretty Woman
One CD: Any of Michael Jackson’s CD!!!! I looooooveee MJ
The book: Have to go with @GirlAtdBusStop and say the Bible.
The movie: Man that is hard, Star Wars the Empire Strikes back D’oh! There are too many good ones.
The CD: Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon.
Book: Meditations by Marcus Aurelius – the best book I know for maintaining sanity.
Movie: V for Vendetta – the only movie I can watch more than once every 2–3 years without getting bored.
Album: Probably something by Chopin, again because his music is great for keeping sanity and to relax. If all my nutritional needs were met, sanity would be the next big concern being marooned on an island.
Book: A Short History of Nearly Everything – Bill Bryson
Album: The Beatles- Sgt. Peppers Club Band
Movie: Good Will Hunting
All 3 would have to be books. If I’m stranded on an island I would have to wish for a house, electricity and then a game system or some dvd player of some sort. The last two are no good without electricity so once I make my first three wishes the movie or album are not possible.
But to heck with that. I have a genie.
Wish one . (get me a house in the hamptons)
Wish two. ( make me rich) – I can now by all the books and albums and movies I want
Wish three ( make me young and healthy again along with my husband)
Would be a lame genie if all I could get was books, or a movie or an album.
@GirlAtdBusStop good answer.
Book: The Bible
Movie: One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest.
Album: Any of Van Morrison’s stuff.
Book: To Kill a Mockingbird
And if I can’t have two more books (my preference), I’ll go with…
Movie: Ugh, this is hard. Can I have the whole LOTR trilogy? If not, let’s make it a movie I’m dying to see, but haven’t yet: Inception
Video Game: Oblivion (that ought to keep me occupied for quite a while)
The book (can I have a series?) Shelby Foote, History of the Civil War.
The movie and video game: Screw it, I want more books. :)
oops
The Magnolia Tree by Steven Bell
2001 A Space Odyssey
Southern Steel
Point Counter Point is one of the purdiest guitar songs I have ever heard and I would listen to that everyday no problem.
I was watching as Cruiser was composing his answer and the thought that a guitar would be cool to have on a deserted island. Think what you could teach yourself over time.
@Adirondackwannabe Since the guitar or instrument was not a choice I picked the best guitarist ever to serenade me! :))
@Cruiser I don’t conform well. I want the guitar. But I agree with your choice.
(Playing Cut to the Chase and Bob Seger, Katmandu at the same time)
Book: Pride and Prejudice
Video Game: Mario Brothers?
Movie: To Kill a Mockingbird
Book- Lonesome Dove
Movie- Gone With the Wind
Video Game- New Super Mario Brothers
Can’t disagree with that, but I have to behave. Back to the question. If I hijack anymore threads the mods are going to put a price on my head.
Book The Stand (long version)
Movie: To Kill a Mockingbird
Video game: Pacman
The Bible
Fight Club
The Beatles White Album or Dark Side of the Moon
@janbb That’s the best choice of the three I could ever come up with.
Book: Something that has a lot of soft pages (You didn’t say anything about toilet paper…)
Album: Morbid Tales-CF
Video game: Left 4 Dead
Can I play the video game and listen to the album? Because if I could just have the CDs and not listen to them, I think I would rather just take 3 books. Long books.
I’ll take a collection of Mark Twain stories,“Young Frankenstein” and Pink Floyd’s “The Dark Side of the Moon” Looks like I’ll be doing alot of reading all alone on this island.
Book: Steven King’s The Dark Tower (there are 7 in the series, but, we’ll mash them all into one rather large book)
Album: Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon
Video Game: the newest Zelda: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.
I would go with three books.
The island has all your “nutritional needs.” Nothing more.
So, I would have to assume there is no electricity. Or, it would be a resort.
Video games, DVD’s and such wont work.
Where does the dvd/cd player and electricity come from?
@ChazMaz-“Tattoo” and Mr.Roarke will be there with an electrical outlet.
Plus I have a big ass solar panel.
@ChazMaz -I hate to correct a person’s spelling,but dont you mean,DA PLANE! DA PLANE!?? ;0
I for one, am not going to insult Tattoo’s speech inducement. ;-)
And, would that not be “DE” Plane?
Book- The Stand
Movie- The Godfather
CD- Led Zeppelin
Book: Something by Dickens
Movie Apocalyspe Now, or The Wall Pink Floyd
CD Lifehouse, No Name Face
Book: Encyclopedia Britannica
Movie: Bridget Jones Diary (Never fails to make me laugh)
CD: Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos
Since people are picking series, I’ll take Patrick O’Brian’s “Aubrey/Maturin” series (only 20 volumes) and the Moody Blues “core seven” albums. He can keep the vid games and films in exchange for the liberal interpretation of the other two categories.
Book : How to Build a Raft by R.U. Afloat.
Movie : The Beach.
CD : Message in a Bottle, the single by The Police.
Game: Dominions 3
CD: Beethoven: Piano Sonatas, Vol. 1 (Moonlight, Pathetique, Appassionata)
Book: How to Get Off an Island in the Middle of Nowhere
Book: The House of the Scorpion, it’s my favorite book of all time.
Movie: I’d have to go with one of my all time favorites, The Proposal.
Video Game: Sims 2, because I can literally play that game forever and never get bored.
Book: Lord of the Rings, all 3 volumes. I can never get sick of reading this.
Movie: Star Wars episodes 1 – 6 (not my first choice, but gets the most bang for a wish).
Cd: My 7 hour long MP3 mix cd of Bay Area metal bands.
That’s a bit ridiculous. far from one book, one movie, and one cd.
@everyone you are given a tv or a tv and a game system to watch your movie, or play your game. and you get a cd player and a speaker that reaches 90db. Oh, and an indestructible reading lamp if you have a book.
I’m still wondering what the source of electricity is. Do I have to build a windmill and a conversion system? Where will I get the copper wiring?
@Seek_Kolinahr Didn’t it come from a genie? It is a magical TV that doesn’t need a power supply. The same goes for the game system, the cd system, and the lamp.
Well then it’s a pretty damned stingy genie if he can make magic TVs but won’t allow me to have a three-volume book (like Lord of the Rings – one story, six books, three volumes.)
@Seek_Kolinahr He’s just not a very talented genie. He only just got his genie license.
Genies have licenses? How did the damned bureaucrats get their hands on the magical lamp-dwelling do-gooder racket?
Okay, this isn’t even fun anymore. I’m done.
Assuming that we have the technologies to use them, I’d pick these.
One book: Abarat 1 and 2 in a single binding.
One movie: Arsenic and Old Lace.
One video game: Zelda, the one with the little boat.
@Seek_Kolinahr He’s a GS2, remember Clarence Oddbody the AS2 in Capra’s “It’s a Wonderful Life”?
@ChazMaz -I would never insult a French accent like that..Deplane?Isn’t that when you exit the aircraft at a French airport?
Book: Science and Health and Talk Does Not Cook the Rice (I was given two choices, because I don’t do video games :)
Video: Annie Hall
CD: Abbey Road
It’d probably be better to have a survival manual, huh? Or maybe the movie Cast Away?
Book: Kenneth Grahame ~ Wind in the Willows
Game: Mario Bros.
CD: Yes ~ Tales From Topographic Oceans
The Bible
the call of the wild
white fang
Movie: The Sixth Sense
Video Game: DiRT 2
CD: Don’t care because I don’t even like reading books.
@Afos22 This question is ridiculous, I just took it a bit farther.
@b haha, 3 books, 6 movies, and 7 hours of cd?
@Afos22 One Book, to rule them all. Even a beginner Gennie can make it happen.
Book – Catch 22
Movie – Shaun Of The Dead
Music – Vheissu by Thrice
Movie – Star Wars
Book – On The Road
Music – Bob Marley Legend
@b
Six books. Three volumes. One story.
I have never played a game thing. I could never pick one CD. Movie would be “Gangs of New York”. And probably a book on how to build boats out of trees/ or how to keep people away from islands.
